Default Order of files

When loading files from an audio book onto my player, they do not keep the order as they were loaded.

ie.

Files as on PC:

01T01.wma
01T02.wma
01T03.wma
01T04.wma

Files as on MP4:

01T03.wma
01T01.wma
01T02.wma
01T04.wma

Is there a way to force alphabetic listing/playing of files?

The files on the MP4 player don't play alphabetically. They actually play in the order you copy them to the player.

So, if you wanted the player to play in 'normal' mode but play the files in a particular order, you will have to unfort copy them into your player in the order you want them to play. It's abit annoying I know.

Hopefully newer firmware versions will fix this problem.

An easy way of copying multiple files one-shot in order into your player would be like this:

For example, you want to copy 10 songs from an album in order to your player.

Step 1, go to the directory where you want the songs to be copied from here:
Click the image to open in full size.
And click on the 1st song you want.

Step 2, press and shold SHIFT key and select the last song to be copied here:
Click the image to open in full size.

Ensure all the songs you want are selected.

Step 3, RIGHT click on the 1st song again and select COPY here"
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 4, create a new folder in your player, open it, and RIGHT click in it and select PASTE here:
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 5, all the 10 songs would be copied in order 1 thru 10 into your player here:
Click the image to open in full size.

Step 6, to check the order, RIGHT click on the 1st song and select PROPERTIES here:
Click the image to open in full size.

See the CREATED time.

Step 7, RIGHT click on the 2nd song and select PROPERTIES again here:
Click the image to open in full size.

The 2nd copied song should have a later CREATED time than the 1st song.

I have no problem copy multiple files...or a single file...to my player. I was just hoping there was a 'rational' explanation for why they did not play in alphabetical order.

Let's all hope there IS a new firmware coming...HA!

The rational explanation is a quirk with windows explorer actually. When u select a group of files in any view type and copy them or open them, (even in list or details mode) windows will always take the last selected file and open it first, then the remaining files in the order u selected them. To test this, try opening multiple files in any program (such as word or excel, autocad or whatever), then go to the "Window" menu and look at the order of the window list. The only way I found to get around this is to select the files in reverse order (bottom up). Admin is correct, the Mp4 player plays files in the order they were copied. Just keep in mind you might need to select the files from the bottom up in explorer.

Cheers

The explanation why it won't play alphabetically is that your player's chipset only plays them from the date it was copied onto the player.

It doesn't have the capability to play alphabetically.

lattesurf instructions will show you how to copy it so that it does play them in the order you want them to be.
