I wanted to change those horrible firmware images, and followed the instruction here. i extracted the folder and clicked the "extract.bat file". But S1fwx says "can't find device" after scanning, the player is connected to the computer and detected by windows though. what have i done wrong? or isn't it possible with this type of player? please help.

punkt, your player is most likely using a Sigmatel chipset, the s1fwx tool will only work on Action chipsets. When you go to Settings on your player what is shown under the Firmware Version setting?

punkt, OK that is not a Action firmware version so I would say your player has a Sigmatel chipset. Sadly there are no utilities to modify this firmware but there is a firmware extractor for Sigmatel players here

Thanks, but when i try to download the extractor, my antivir guard says this is some kind of virus. I doubt it actually is, because antivir sometimes alerts for no reason, but has anyone tryed it before?
i don't want to destroy my mp3 player.
