Default Computer not recongnizing my mp4 player

Ok so I have a 4GB (actually 2GB) mp4 player and recently I've been having this serious problem. Whenever I plug it into a pc nothing happens. The removable disk thing in my computer doesn't show up. The computer can't seem to detect it. Now ofcourse I remembered to turn my player on so thats not it. I have no idea what might have happened. Oh and the funny thing is that the mp4 still charges up when I plug it so thats even more weird. It still works sometimes but rarely. I think it stopped working for good now.

So can anyone tell me what my problem might be and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance

UrAnus , try using another USB port on your computer. Also, try using another USB cable if you have. Lastly, try it on another computer if you have access to another.
If all fails, i think it's likely that the socket in your player that connects the usb cable probably broke off from the player's mainboard.
You'll need to open your player and do a visual inspection of it.

I already tried using it on other computers. I'm afraid it just got worse now. My mp4 isn't even charging when I connect it to my pc :x

As for doing a visual inspection...I'm not sure I know how to do that.

Some were succesfull with removing the battery, then connect it to the pc. Windows may find the player then, maybe. Have you claimed it at the seller as a defectt?

UrAnus , as Que had mentioned, try contacting your seller about this problem if it is still under warranty.
But if your player is working fine, and only the usb has problem. Likely i presume that the problem lies in either the cable or socket.

No the player works fine. I can still listen to music and watch videos, but I can't put anything in it and now I can't even charge it. I'm not sure what I should do. i f I try to fix it myself then the warranty is no longer good. I'll try to see what the seller says but something tells me he isn't going to be much help.

I should have just got a real nano

A nano? There are thousends of mp3 players between the cheapest chipod and the Ipod, that are better! Meizu, Cowon Iaudio, Samsung, Sandisk. But then you have to spend serious money.
Lattesurf may be right:
Have you checked the players connector, some bent pin maybe? The player itself seems fine, so it is probably the cable?

I dno from the outside everything like fine and straight but I'm no technician so I really don't know.

I meant all the trouble this player is giving me isn't worth the few dollars I saved from that Ipod.

UrAnus , well there are good and there are bad things about these nano-clones. Good is they are cheap and have more functions built in, bad is they don't have after-sales support.
I'll suggest that you contact your seller to work out a solution. Else get a friend good in electronics or your local electronics/handphone repair shops and get them to help check the soldering connection for the USB socket to the mainboard.

Uranus

I had the same exact problem with my mp4. I would plug it in and it could charge but that was all. I switched usb ports and it now works fine!
