How to select individual mp3 files?

hi,
I recent received my mp4 player that I bought off amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...243153-8959234

my firmware is

ACTS16D_37
2006/04/14

3.5.37-001
2006/4/14

but when i browse a folder, it doesn't show my music. I can only select the folder to play but not the individual music.

Is there any way I can modify the firmware to allow file browsing?

Thanks

Re: How to select individual mp3 files?

yhap2003 , currently majority of these players do not support file browsing, only folder browsing.
However, there is a thread by ROLLEYFLEX that discusses about merging of file-browser enabled firmware with your firmware to enable the file browsing feature Here.

But be warned that this method is not 100% guaranteed, and incorrectly merged firmwares might kill your player. Even rendering it useless for the Dead Player Recovery.

But what if I have the backup for my mp4 player, would it help to recover my dead player - if it goes dead?

Re: How to select individual mp3 files?

yhap2003 , well, if an incorrect firmware kills your player because of incompatibility, a backup firmware would likely recover your player.

But if the incorrect firmware permanently kills your player and causes some shorts in the processor/memory chips or the mainboard (either way electrically killing the components), even if you had your full and backup firmware, it can't be recovered.

Oh...I've checked the thread by ROLLEYFLEX but it is only for the fake nano. Do you think it will work with my mp4 player?

yhap2003 , his thread is based on an Actions ATJ chipset (if i'm not wrong). Once you extract your firmware, see if it is a Wilson co S1 Mp3 firmware. If it is, most probably it'll apply on your firmware too.
But no guarantees the file browser would work though.

I got scared for a while. hehe. well thanks for the help. I Guess i'll have to wait for newer firmware to come out :D
