Need help with folder changes on the player

hi,
I purchased a 4gb player and for some reason when i add folders most of them will be ok but a couple will be altered to weird symbols. I cant delete them either. Also it seems like they switch around too when i plug the player to the computer with the USB cable. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help me out.

Thanks

Re: Need help with folder changes on the player

orangecornelius , i'll suggest a format on your player (backup your stuff first). As currently these Actions-chipset players only supports a maximum of 2GB memory capacity, your 4GB is likely a hacked memory.
You can do so with the MP3 Utilities Disk Tool (which came on the cd). Select "LOW" level format and in the Parition & Encrypt tab, slide the slider all the way to left (min) and click on format.

The errors you have been experiencing should be solved after the format. However, be prepared for a large loss of memory, maximum you'll get is only 2GB, maybe even 128MB.
Contact your seller if the memory drops too little.

Good luck.

Re: Need help with folder changes on the player

orangecornelius , when you connect your player to the USB, does your computer show 2 removable drives?
If so, try a double format. Where in the Partition & Encrypt tab, slide the slider to max (right) and click format. Next, in the same tab, slide the slider to min(left) and click format again. This would rebuild your partition and recombine the 2 drives together.
If it is only 1 drive, you can go to your player's system menu >> Online mode >> Normal Only. Once selected, you will see both drives appearing. Then perform the above double format steps.

Thanks again. Yes 2 drives pop up when i plug in the player with the usb. I will try what you suggested tonight but I really wish i could just send it out to get it repaired somewhere lol. I appreciate the help. You are awesome.
