4GB player not charging and other questions

hey there! newbie here!

found the link to this site through a feedback responce on ebay!!
i have recently bought one of the hacked alleged 4gb nano clone players of ebay from Hong kong and have a couple of issues with it! (Unsuprisingly!!!!! )

i have seen that with most they are not the size quoted and often a lot less, so my first question is what do i need to do to check this?? i have seen the firmware upgrades on here etc but tbh have no idea what i need to do!! (a simpletons description would be tops!!) and secondly, i can't seem to get my unit to accept any charge! it displays the charging indicater but doesnt want to work after being unpluged!
when i first plugged in the provided 2 pin plug to the adapter into my socket the think went pop bang spark and then rattled! (took apart to reveal a blown piece of the top of one of the little resister like items! )
any idea's???
any help gratefully recieved!!
Timmo.

Re: 4GB player not charging and other questions

I've had the same problem with a 2-pin charger from the far-east, went pop-fizzle though! - Does the MP4 player charge whilst plugged into the PC via the USB cable?

You need to install the latest software (available from the download section ver 4.05 I think), plug the player into the PC and use the MP3 disk tool to reformat the player, use the encryption format tab and set the slider all the way down to 0 and press start. This will delete the current (fake) partition and recreate a true sized one.

My player went from 4GB to 2GB, Im not that fussed as I only paid £25 incl. delivery.

thank you for the reply!
the indicater on the player shows that its charging via usb but when you disconnect it it has no life at all!
the seller has agreed to replace it for me too which is nice i suppose for the price of the postage! but like you i only paid £25 all in for it so thats pretty good for a 2gb!
when i get the replacement i will do the firmware etc. as then with any luck it will actually charge and i can use it lol!!

when you say mp3 disc tool is that refering to the one that came with the player or is that another download from this site???

many thanks!
Timmo.

Re: 4GB player not charging and other questions

There were a few versions on the mini-cd that shipped with my mp4 player but there are newer versions of the MP3 player utilities in the download section.

Check out some of the other forums as well, most if not all questions have already been answered!

I've only had my player for a couple of days but have already sorted out a couple of issues by checking through all the forums.
