Default Firmware newbie have Nano clone

Hi guys

Real newbie to all of this I ahve read all the FAQ's etc and have abit more of an understanding. My problem I have the player below

MP3 Player
LSD_9101_11
2006-10-27
9.0.48
2005-01-09

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...DME:L:RTQ:UK:1

and it is going to be a x-mas gift for my mother but being not really a tech kind of person she is only used to navigating IPOD NANO systems etc. So I was wondering is there a idiots firmware that I can put on this player for my mum

Cheers guys

Richard

Wolf-uk , first step is to format your player. As there is no 4GB nano-clones in the market at the moment. These players only supports a max of 2GB.

Next, backup your firmware. The steps are Here.
Once you have the repaired firmware, keep it safely.

Now, to theme the player, Here is a guide on how to modify the firmware. Note, ALWAYS use your own backup firmware! Never use someone else's firmware, it would very likely kill your player.
Here is another guide on theming your firmware. I'll suggest you have a good read on these guide before starting on the theming.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Wolf-uk, Your player is using one of the new version 9.0.xx series firmware so you are not going to be able to backup your firmware as the s1fwx backup tool can't successfully extract and repair it. Hopfully it will be upgraded in the near future to include this firmware.
I suggest you do not try to upgrade the firmware for the same reasons, you will not find another to match your player and it could end up totally unusable if you try to load the wrong firmware.
Sadly this also means you will not be able to customize your firmware unless you have the original Full Version of it.

Thanks guys for getting back to me.

So the bottom line is I can't do anything with it at the moment?

No software came with the palyer! Do I just drag and drop files I want to put onto the player into the drive that appears on "my Computer" and then the player sorts them out?

Thanks Again

Richard

Wolf-uk , missed out on the ver 9.xx thing. Yes, you can't theme a version 9.xx firmware at the moment, only able to format it.

The player acts as a USB thumbdrive, so you'll just need to create folders like "music" and drop your files in there like a thumbdrive. The player would find them when you access the music player.
