Default File Transfers

OK, I am about to give up. I will give a nice reward to anyone that tells me how to download AND PLAY onto a 1 GB clone. I tried reformat, nothing works. I can drag and drop but I get a format error on the player. If I try to copy from Windows Media Player I get a license error from Media Player. The install CD does not contain the files needed to install the proper drivers. Should I just throw it away and but an I-Pod or is there hope for these things?

There is no name on either the player or any of the documentation. I bought it off e-bay about three months ago, shipped from the UK. It is supposed to be 1 GB and shows 967 MB on format. My downloaded songs are in WIndows media player as well as Nero music manager. The install disk seems to be missing a file MSI.CAB and I cannot figure out how to open it up. I can drag and drop the music files but the player shows "Format Error". My PC recognizes the player as a removable drive and the music files take up space on the player but do not play.

mjasgt, The player should behave as a USB memory stick would, when connected to your PC you should se a removable drive icon in explorer.
You do not need any software to load files to it you should be able to copy and paste to it.

When it is attached can you see your player in Exlorer?
If so can you enter by double clicking on the icon?

The drive is recognized and I can cut and paste a wma file to the drive. The problem comes when I try and play that song, the player tells me there is a format error. The song title appears on the player but it shows no time at the top where the song playing time appears. I tried to convert the file to mp3 but it is DRM protected. The manual for the player says that it accepts wma and wav files as well as MP3. As I said, if I look at the drive in my computer, it shows the files taking up space on the drive but the songs will not play.

mjasgt, These players can not read DRM protected music files. If you try non protected wma or mp3 files you should find they work.

Thanks for the help. Now could you direct me to a site that will allow me to download songs that the player will find acceptable? Is there a listing of such sites on this board? I could not locate any links. Don't all the download sites have licensing issues? I just want to be sure it will work before I commit money to a monthly membership or something like that.

mjasgt,

You can try the "Downloads" area on our site.
There is a "Samples" section and in there, some sample audio files for you to try. Some even have .lrc lyric files too.

Please remember due to licencing and copyright agreements, use them as samples and delete them once you have finished sampling them. If you like the song, please support the original artist by buying the cd.
