Default Can I get rid of 'AMV Player' header from MPX screen?

Hello.

Only the sample videos that came pre-loaded on my player play full screen. The videos I have converted to .amv all play with a 'header' and 'footer' bar. The header bar says 'AMV Player'.

That bar is probably inserted in the video by the software, which is AMV Converter tool in MP3 Utilities 4.03. Can somebody please tell me how to get rid of that bar to display videos in full screen?

Try this sample video:

Stacie_Orrico-Stuck-160x120-mympxplayer.org.amv

This is encoded at 160 x 120 pixels. If it plays in full screen on your player, then you will need to convert your videos to that size.

Let me know of the progress.

Thanks for the reply, but I don't think I explained it right the first time. Sorry. Let me make myself clear.

I have a 1.5 inch player, which can only play videos in 128x96 format (other formats result in errors). I thought that the AMV Converter software deliberately inserts a 'header bar' (just like the program bar on top of a program) that says 'AMV Player' - this appears at the top of the video, like a windows media player bar appears over the media player window.

However, while editing my firmware, I noticed that the following...

There's a file at the following location:

UI30.RES> icon> AMV_BKUP

This seems to be a picture of the header bar that appears at the top. However, it does not appear when I play the pre-loaded sample videos that came with the player. They play fullscreen, without any bar at the top or bottom.

So, how do I get rid of that bar?

Thanks a lot!

witnwisdumb,

Ok.
I do know of the "AMV Player" title bar you are talking about. As far as I know, you can't remove it as like you have found out, it's actually part of the firmware! Even if you make it blank, it will still show up.

However, now that you've mentioned that your sample video plays it in full screen, I'm very interested to know WHY that is happening? I've always believe that it isn't possible to remove that "AMV Player" title bar.

I have a number of 1.5" screen players and I've never been able to remove it, nor have any videos that can play in full screen.

Can you upload the sample video that you have on your player? I would be very interested in testing it against my 1.5" players.

Thank you for the reply. I'm wondering whether editing the 'AMV_BKUP' file to replace it with a bmp that's only 1 pixel thick will result in a much smaller bar.

There are three sample videos on the disk. Two of them are around 10mb, and one is 2.5mb, so I'm uploading the smallest of the three here. Hope its of some help.

RapidShare - download sample video clip.

Thanks!

try 128x128 when converting instead of 128x94

witnwisdumb, The header bar is just part of the background image to the AMV play feature. It will only show when you are using 128x96, if you use 128x128 the bar will be covered by the video and will not show. The sample you uploaded is encoded at 128x128 12fps. I suggest you try using version 3.68 of the AMV converter tool which you can download here:
http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...-mb-df327.html
Start with a setting of 128x128 with Frames per second set to high, if you get Format Error warning when trying to play the converted video on your player drop the frame rate to medium and then try another conversion.

hg, Tadad... Hmm, thanks for the info. I'll try that out and get back to you on it.

PS: Any reason why I should use AMV Converter tool 3.68 in particular? I'm using 4.03. I unlocked the settings by changing chipset to '0' in the ini file, as you'd instructed to do in the other thread.

witnwisdumb, 4.03 is basically an upgrade of version 4.0 to convert for larger screen players 2.0inch+. Version 4.0 was always a little buggy when it came to AMV conversion where as 3.68 was more stable and had fewer conversion problems. Generally people having error problems when using 4.0 were able to overcome these problems by using 3.68.

witnwisdumb,

I tested the amv file you uploaded on my 1.5" LCD player now.

It also displays it at full screen!

So it looks like if you encode it at 128 x 128, then you will get it in full screen.

That's something I never tried using a 128 x 128 size video on my 1.5" player. I've always had it at 128 x 96 (as the sample ones that came with my player was encoded at that size). I've learnt something new today that's for sure!
