weavsta, You do not need any software to transfer files. Once connected to your PC it will appear in Explorer as a Removable Device and will work like a USB flash drive and you can copy and paste files and folders into it through Explorer.

As Tadad1 says you only need software if you have windows 98 which the driver would then be on the software cd or if you are putting video/movies onto your player which would be the AMV Conversion software also on the software cd. Either way they are both available from the downloads section here on the website. You can even find a user manual in the downloads section.

weavsta,
Your player may be using an encrypted partition. Try connecting your player to your PC. Open MP3 Disk Tool that is part of the MP3 Player Utilities and go to the Partition Encrypt tab. Move the slider all the way right then back all the way left and press start. This will remove any encrypted partitions and restore your drive to a normal partition.

weavsta , if you had copied music files into the player, it should be able to find it in whichever folder you copied it to.

Are you using the correct format of files? Most players only support .mp3, .wma and .wav formats.

Another solution would be to extract your firmware, repair it, then re-flash it back into your player. It might be that the firmware has some problems.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
