Hello,

I connected my mp4 player to the computer usb port for over 8 hours. Still the battery shows half charged. What could be the problem? Please help.

bigboy99 , try extracting, repairing and then re-flashing your original firmware back into your player.
The battery icon is not very accurate, and sometimes shows half charged even with a fully charged battery.
You should be able to get roughly at least 3-4hours of playtime with all the power saving features.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Default Re: Help: Battery only charges half way

i have the same issue.. throught house power nothing is charged, in USB 1.1 only half is charged, but seeing AMV only gives 40/45minutes, in USB 2.0 (different computer), after 4 hours, only 1/4 is charged!..giving maybe 15minutes of normal use..

using "firmware make tools" from chinnese software, when i load the original firmware it show´s that the options for battery is 1,5V/1,2V/3,6V, but in my battery say´s 3,7V....4,2V. Maybe is paranoia or my battery isnt the right one..

I dont want to mess around my firmware, but i tested changing the language to "portuguese" in "firmware make tools", saved the firmware, upload in to my mp3, and the player was in portuguese...
Also in that software, we can see what "decoder´s"/"encoder´s" that the player has... in DSP files, DSP stands for "Digital Signal Processing".. we can see what is the Player "driver" files: AMV.DSP, WMA.DSP, MP3.DSP, etc...

fablept, The battery voltage setting in the firmware does not seem to make any difference although some beleive that if it is set to 1.5volts you will get longer battery time but I have not found any difference in the settings.

You should be getting a full charge in 4 hours. There may be a problem with your USB cord or the battery may be failing in which case you may need to replace it.
