Default Problems with my "Ipod".Serial: YM5387WZSZB

Hello te everybody!! First of all, sorry for my English, but I hope that you'll understand my question...

well, I get an Ipod, I think that is a clone Ipod or i don't know, but it isn't the real one. My sister brought me from china 3 weeks before, and on those 3 weeks i tried to make it working properly but I couldn't. Reading on this website, I downloaded firmware, an so on, and now I can listen music, but I have a problem. My sister told me that the disc's capacity was 8 GB, and on the first day I plugged to the PC and I tried to gave format, I saw that the capacity was 7,99 GB. But know, after I gave format with the "MP3 player disc tool" from the "MP3 player utilities 3.15" the disc's capacity is only 108 MB. I don't know if this is the real capacity or if I can get the 8 GB. It would be great...

this is written in the back part of the player:

Serial: YM5387WZSZB
Model: A1137
EMC: 2066

if someone wanna answer me, my e-mail address: teo69_84@hotmail.com

Thank's

Angus.

Angus , did you format using the Disk Tool from the MP3 Utilities?
If so, then your player was originally hacked. Currently, these players chipsets only support a maximum of 2GB. By formatting, the hack was removed from the memory to reveal the true size. Which in this case is 128MB.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

I take it this was an Ebay item.

I'm getting really hacked off by the amount of hacked player fraud on Enay and Ebay doing absolutely nothing about it. Report the guy to Ebay and if you have the link, post it here too.

I supposed that the problem would be that the player was hacked... I think that there's nothing I can't do to get my player working... so, I was thinking around to buy a new one. (The one I have, was bought in China and the prize was around 20€, so I don't care about it). But I'm confused, i don't know if buy an Ipod, or an another mp4 player, cause the Ipod cost is 200€ and I think that I could get a mp4 player for a half...

Angus , there are many pros and cons between the original ipods and these nano-clones.

There is an excellent eBay guide by one of this forum's member michiganjfrog on the differences between the ipod and nano-clone.

However, you'll need to note that if you buy another nano-clone, you might end up with hacked memory again. So if you want to buy, you'll need to get them from reputable sources like houseofdap.com or uxcell.com.
