ipod nano 8GB

Got a ipod nano 8 GB and my problem is that I can't add much to it, 10 songs are fine but if I want to add more it restarts when I try to play it. I see the song in "the rooth" but when I select it restarts. I have formated it but it didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know what might be wrong with it?

madde, Unless your player is a genuine 8GB Apple iPod Nano you may have a problem. These Chinese Nano Clones do not come in 8GB in fact they will only support a maximum of 2GB Nand Flash memory. What you have got is a hacked player, this is when the manufacturer adds a small capacity memory chip to the player and then programs it so that it reads as 4GB or 8GB. The fact that you can only use 10 songs indicates that your chip could in fact be as small as 128MB.
You will find that the files that cause your player to restart are corrupted, if you copy them back to your PC you will find they do not play. This is because they have been copied to memory that does not really exist.
If you look through the forum you will find many posts relating to hacked players.
Here are some posts that may explain.

You can also open your player and check the serial number of the memory chip against this list of Samsung and Hynix chips

No my player is from China, so I guess you're right. Didn't know that they sold with fake memory. Just one more question then, how do I find out what my correct firmeware is? Thanks for helping me, really appreciate it!

madde, If you go into the settings menu on your player and select "Firmware Version" it will give you the version details.
Be careful about trying to change the firmware it is the quickest way to kill your player espaecially if your player is running the 9.0.XX series of firmware.

Wont try to change any firmeware, but I did "unhack" it and as you said, there is only 108 MB memory in my player, but atleast now it works.. Thanks again for your help!
