Caiman_loco, Changing firmware is a very risky business with any player, however with Sunplus players you run a very real risk of killing your player and very little chance of recovery. In some cases the firmware can only be reinstalled at factory level.

Re: NEED YOUR HELP

I kwon it,
But the description don't corresponding with my mp4 player.

And the only way to have it, it's change the firmware.

regards

lattesurf 29th Dec 2006 6:24 am

Caiman_loco , what description are you refering to?

If you really are determined to change the firmware, you risk killing your player and needs to be re-flash at factory level as tadad mentioned.

Re: NEED YOUR HELP

chuck22 , please avoid mass posting in various threads. It only makes it more messy.

Firstly, currently there are no 4GB nano-clone/chipod players. The most it'll support is 2GB.
To verify this, you need to perform a format on your player. The guide is here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

Next, if your firmware is the 3.5.xx series, it is an Actions based player. It should play the .AMV format. The file conversion guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-co...-368-vt32.html

Re: How to change the firmware of SUNPLUS SPA536A HB111

thank you lattesurf, from chuck22. just a couple of questions?
you say chipod im not sure how to tell the differnce. they are realy thin about 2" wide and 3and a half inches long. the screen is 2 and half inches long controls in a circle pattern. does that help, helpme? and when i hook them up to the computer it shows 4gb, on the mp4 with about 1gb already in use. and the series # is differnt and the date and LSD # that dosnt make a differnce? and last we put music on some of the mp4 players on X-mas day and now there is two of them that wont charge or turn on. my nephew down loaded music without the software cd. are the mp4 players that arent turning on gone or is thier hope? thank you very much and i appologize if i seem to be asking the same things over but i feel i let my kids down already i just wont to try and fix it. charlesmay22@yahoo.com buy the way do you know if the mp4 players uxcell are selling are any good?

lattesurf 30th Dec 2006 7:25 pm

chuck22 , the basic firmware versions available are the 3.5.35 and 3.5.37. So if your firmware version contains these combination of numbers, it is the Actions based player.

Regarding the memory, since it's an Actions based player, it'll only support max 2GB of memory. Anything above that is hacked and a format is highly recommended, as it will only cause alot of problems in future. The guide is http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

Ensure that the on/off switch button is at the on position to be able to charge or turn on.
Does it turn on only when connected to the computer?

Uxcell are the sponsers of this forum and their players seem to be quite legit. So yes i'll recommend them if you need to buy new players.

lattesurf 4th Jan 2007 6:55 am

chuck22 , ok. To determine your current problem, you need to answer the following questions:

1. When you plug the player into the computer USB, does the player appear as a removeable drive in My Computer? If yes, are you able to access the files in there?

2. Using the MP3 Utilities Upgrade Tool (included in the cd or download from the forum) and your player connected to the computer. Does the Upgrade Tool detect your player? Do not upgrade any firmware at this point yet.

lattesurf, this is chuck22.
it doesn't turn on what so ever. it acttually feels the longer i leave it pluged into the computer the hotter it gets. but it wont turn on or show up on the computer? ant ideas? charlesmay22@yahoo.com

thanks chuck22

lattesurf 4th Jan 2007 7:32 pm

chuck22 , according to what you have described, i would likely think that there is some hardware failure.

Plugging into the USB to charge the player would usually only get the player none to slightly warm after sometime, not hot. and since you have not done any firmware upgrades, the player should at least get detected by the computer.

Probably what i can suggest is to contact the seller for an exchange or refund.

Re: How to change the firmware of SUNPLUS SPA536A HB111

lattesurf 5th Jan 2007 9:38 pm

chuck22 , if you had followed the guide on formatting using the Disk Tools, and ended up with 233MB. i would suspect that your original memory chip is only a 256MB.
To verify further, you need to open the player and check the memory chip's serial number against the manufacturer.
Likely all the players would be hacked, so run the Disk Tool on all of them.

You might want to get a full refund from your seller as the drop in capacity is too much. How did you pay for your items? If it was via paypal, you can start a dispute in paypal. This will force them to reply to you.

Re: How to change the firmware of SUNPLUS SPA536A HB111

chuck22 , the problem with cod is you can't get a refund unless the seller is willing to do so.

However, if you want to change the memory chip, it is also possible. There is a guide from s1mp3.org here http://wiki.s1mp3.org/index.php/How_..._a_memory_chip

However, you will need to do alot of pre-purchase work by verifying the actual chip and getting the datasheet for it. You need to ensure that the new chip being bought has the same pinouts/specifications as the current chip installed.
You need to verify each player individually as the manufacturer might have used different chips in each player.

Currently there are no verified 4GB and above nano-clone players in the market. But you can get legit 2GB players from Uxcell.com, although there were some complains recently regarding the hacked memory issues too.

Also, try houseofdap.com, they offer Teclast & Meizu 1GB, 2GB and 4GB players. These players are slightly of the high-end side and costs abit more. But very well worth the money and usually lesser problems.

lattesurf, chuck22 thanks,
about the changeing of the memory chips, will that site help me find , purcase, and help explain to me how to put them in? if not where would i go to get them and get them put in?now with finding the right chip will i use the info on the mp4 players them selfs. the lisong LSD_801_06
2006/08/21 SDK3.5.37? use that to get the right chips or what excactly? or can i put the memory chips in my self once i get the right ones. plus do you know if i can get 4gbmemory chips, or what size will be available? plus i was looking at ather sites for more mp4 players and i say one that said it was 30gb is there such a thing or is it a come on? thanks again chuck22. charlesmay22@yahoo.com

lattesurf 7th Jan 2007 2:18 am

chuck22 , read the link i posted previously, it contains the steps needed to remove and fit the new memory chip.

Regarding the chip info, it is not the version info. You need to open the player and get the physical serial number. For example, mine is Samsung 622 K9WAG08U1-A.

There is no point buying 4GB and above chips, as the processor can only support a maximum of 2GB.

I'm not sure of 30GB, if it was, it'll be a mini-hard-disk. To install a player with 30GB worth of flash memory would be very expensive.

Re: How to change the firmware of SUNPLUS SPA536A HB111

lattesurf, chuck22,
i opened one of the none working mp4 players. there is two main chips, both are towards the top of the mp4 player. the chip at the very top is a rectangular shape and has very visable letters and number on it. "hynix" "kor" "HY27UF082G2A" "TPCB" "644A" that is what is on the rectangle chip at the very top. the square chip has something writen on it but is hard to make it out. do tou know witch one it should be? talking about the memory chip? plus the site you gave to me already has sites to go and get chips, but do you know other trust worthy sites i can buy these memory 2gb chips from? thanks for all the help chuck22. charlesmay22@yahoo.com

chuck22 , the memory chip would either be Samsung or Hynix branded. What you have found, HY27UF082G2A would be the memory chip.
Regarding the capacity, it is a 2Gigabit or 256MegaByte (1Byte = 8bits) chip.

I'm not sure of the links on the s1mp3.org wiki site, as i've not personally bought from them, nor have heard of anyone buying from them.

Probably those should be alright, since they linked them up. You might also want to consider purchase from other distributors like farnell.com or rs-components.com as they are the 2 largest electronics manufacturers/distributors in the world.
