Default Question concerning backing up firmware, MP3 player id

I was wondering how do I know if the sifwx tool to back up the firmware on my daughters mp3 player is correct for her player. I read that it is a good idea to make a back up but when I explore her player I omly find a database file and a thumbnail file, in addition to the folders and song files she loaded. Her layer is a 1 GB ipod nano clone. The seems to be a lot of discussion about a different model of chinese player and I wasn't sure how to tell which each post refers to.

Thanks
Ted

Tedbeau , if you go to the player's
System menu >> Firmware Version
you should be able to see the version of firmware installed in the player.

The S1fwx tool supports the 3.5.xx & 9.0.43 series.
Once extracted and repaired, keep it safely.
And you might want to upload it to the forum for others too. Upload link is http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php...load&cat_id=20

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
