DSE Micro 1GB MP4 Player
I have a DSE Micro 1GB MP4 Player (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/A2487).
http://www.dse.com.au/isroot/dse/ima...ucts/a2487.jpg The thing came with firmware and works perfectly. However the firmware seems to have the text reader and phone book disabled. I can see the icons in the menu but it skips over them when scrolling. Can I get the text reader without changing my firmware through the editor. Should I try replacing the firmware. Or should I thank god that video and music works and just leave it at that. Syncronised lyrics works. I can see no reason why they would disable it as far as not enough power. Help, Ben Pazolli |
if your firmware has the text reader and phone book options as you suggest, try activating them by using Waterlily

bpazolli , i'm not sure what chipset does the dick smith players use. However, i'll suggest that you try to extract the firmware using the S1fwx tool. If it is able to extract and repair, then as what deepakrr mentioned, use Waterlily to activate the missing functions.
However, i think that Waterlily would be unable to do anything as the function is already enabled if you can see it in the menu list. If all these don't work, try going back to them for an exchange. |
Re: DSE Micro 1GB MP4 Player
Thanks, I will try waterlilly. I think it has the option they gave me some hacked 2 manuals, one they said to discard, the discard one had the pages on the functions but had a sticker over them. Strange. I can't try it now as I am on holiday without my MP4 player. But I will be back home next week and I will try it.
