Any way to fix the eBook formatting problem?

I'm wondering if there's a solution to getting these players to not cut lines in the middle of a word as they wrap to the next line. Makes text very hard to read. Thinking of changing the formatting of the file before transferring it to the player. Should I even bother, or will the player not recognize RTF characters or even TXT editor paragraph chars, and it will cut lines where it wants to anyhow, which always means in the middle of a word!

The Lyrics are readable in a far better way. I think the code for reading lyrics can be replaced with e-books.
But currently i' m concentrating on file browsing.
Its true the e-Book thing is pretty annoying..

So how do you get it to read lyrics??

That's the other thing I couldn't get to work on my Nano clone. I tried downloading lyrics off the net to 2 songs, their files ended in .LRC. I renamed the corresponding MP3 file to the exact name as the lyric file (e.g. "JAMMIN.MP3" -> "JAMMIN.LRC"). Next I play the tune (JAMMIN) but the LYRIC button in the display of the unit is not lit up, which seems to indicate it does not read a corresponding lyric. When I hit the MENU button or ANY other button while the tune is playing, no lyrics are brought up!

Any idea what's going wrong here?

And by "code for reading lyrics replaced by ebook" do you mean to change the .TXT extension to .LRC?

michiganjfrog,
Did you put the LRC file in the same folder as the mp3? It needs to be that way.
Try http://www.mympxplayer.org/a-whole-n...ics-df410.html to test out your player.
You can use Notepad to open the LRC files. Compare the sample file to the one you downloaded. Maybe you can see what the problem is.

I have not figured out how to format the text for ebook either. I have the same problem.

also does your songs have any id3 tags. check if it has any using a free program like Audacity and remove it if it does.

i dont know if it is a conventional and reliable method but it works for me all the time :D

I did have the LRC file in the same folder, but I never thought to remove the ID3 tags from the mp3 file. Most mp3 files do have those tags, so if the players wont play lyrics unless they're removed, then that may be it. I'll have to try that next time, thanks for the tip...

I did some testing with the ebook.
It seems to only read txt files. I tried rtf, swx, prc, wri, pdf and lrc but none were recognized.

I tried changing the margins in OpenOffice to 15 characters/line (my 1.5" screen shows 16/line) and saving as a txt file.
Opening the file in Notepad, Wordpad and OpenOffice showed the correct
formatting, however the player was oblivious to the formatting. I also tried making the file double spaced.

It seems that the little text reader in the player is not able to understand any type of line break.

It was a good idea made useless because they didn't put in a couple of lines of code to make it word wrap.
Fixing this would be a good mod project for someone able to code these things.
