Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

I'm happy as can be with the player, the instruction manual leaves a bit to be desired! I like the bit about 'firmware can be updated periodically from our sites'!! I read the manual through word by word and even got someone else to read it ... you guessed it, unbadged, no-name, and not a web address to be found anywhere.

Does anyone else have a generic RockChip player? Is there anything on this site for us?

Cheers

Does anyone know of a later firmware than 00.00.0002? and where to download it? I've seen mention of 00.00.0032 in the forum. I guess it would still need to be in the rock2*.rfw format for the upgrader to do it's thing.

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

Rockchip is a new player in the MPx market and there are no utilities for extracting the firmware as yet. I found a site (all in Chinese of course  ) with some Rockchip related firmware and tools (topic located here)
but I haven't had any success using it.

My Rockchip says the following:
Ver: 00.02.0001
Date:2006-10-18

Does anyone know how to extract the firmware without using the normal tools? I want to bleed out the data from the flash and see what it is.

caLVin 7th Jan 2007 6:06 pm

Mine says Ver: 00.00.0002
Date:2006-11-01
FlashMem: 334/ 981MB
CardMem: 0/ 0MB

I need firmware for RockChip and my RockChip appears to be HACKED. I also hate my theme right now..so plain..it's the original one that comes with it and i want to upgrade it to the max I can enjoy out of it =D But there are no utilities and stuff. D=

botzon 8th Jan 2007 9:36 am

mine got 00.00.0000
pretty wired, so i have a few questions:

how to upgrade the firmware?
cnat i upgrade from my ver' to 00,00,002 or above withot having the 001?
]
thenks, alon.

BTW: another question for RockChip oweners: did you charge it for cuple of hours when you first bought it?

caLVin 8th Jan 2007 4:54 pm

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

Yeah like 4 hours the first time i bought it..But after..no only like 1 hour for full recharge after fully using all the battery

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

I got 00.00.0001 on a mini CD but it wasn't working on it.
Then I downloaded 00.00.0006 from this site. It has 2 buttons switched so I can't get volume down.
I'm looking for the original 00.00.0000 can someone send it to me?
Or any firmware to a player that looks sth like this?

Oh, I see now  When I got my player, the .rfw was on a mini-CD to update the player. Guess we'll have to wait until someone comes up with one. Cheers

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

Can anybody extract his firmware from his player, with a simple procedure and post it here, please?
A software to do this is HERE
The procedure is really simple:
just execute it with the player conected and the program will ask for a FOLDER where it will put the extracted Firmware files.
Done!

Please help us.

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

Hola Luckyd / Ciao Carlo...

I know what your problems is... I've extracted firmware of my mp4 machines... a couple of s1mp3 firmware... and I've moded them succesfully. In fact... I'm proud of my work based on the Mypod theme. ;)

But the machines we are dealing with here is not that kind (s1mp3) nor sigmatel... this firmware version 00.00.0008 is of a Rockchip device... which unfortunately lacks in tools to deal with them.

I've run the sigmatel extractor and it didn't recognize my device... neither the usual s1mp3 extractors. I've checked the poor cd enclosed with my mp4 and there isn't a firmware. Sorry so much

Buena suerte / Bouna fortuna... for you both... sorry I can't help

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

Thank you DaremoS

Your mp4 machine had 00.00.0008 firmware when you bought it or other firm?
Other question your mp4 player has memory slot? It`s MicroSd or Transflash?

Thanks.

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

hi i have exactly this model http://www.digilife.com.cn/new/produ...ssid=25&id=795 but named iko hm-1135 (2" 2GB mp4 player with mini sd slot), also i have an original cd with version 00.00.0001 from 17.01.2007(in case somebody needs it (alexander.kravits@gmail.com))

the question is, are all this firmware versions suitable for all kind of rockchip platforms(in case if my player is a rockchip platform??), or they are limited by players construction(like lcd, memory...)

thanks!!!

P.S. Can somebody translate the web-page i listed

gs1960 9th Apr 2007 11:59 pm

Re: Does anyone have RockChip player firmware?

I just got an Optimus X from mp4nation.com.. When you plug it in, it shows up as a RockChip. The firmware version appears to be
Ver: 01.05.0000
Data: 2006-12-26

There wasnt a firmware on the included disc. If theres a way to export mine firware without risking my player please let me know and I will upload it so others can use it.

Hi, I have version 00.00.0032 date: 2006-09-12. I really hope someone can make an extractor for it - the themes are really bad, especially the start up and shut down!

I'm going to try to see if I can get an extraction firmware program to work on it - if I have any luck i'll post up my firmware.

makd511 1st Aug 2007 8:54 am

as far a i know there is still no extraction utility for rockchip based machines.

the tools on this site for extraction are for actions based players and will not work

if you want firmwares, go to the downloads section and select Rockchip firmwares

there are also some tools in the tools section in the dowload area

rockchip tools are:
RKlogoEdit (edit the firmware images - difficult to use and also requires an LST file details images and sizes, there are many on this site provided by member Knob

you really need to have the original firmware that came on a disc with your player or even from the place where you bought the player

as ever firmware upgrading is NOT advisable as even the slightest difference in firmware and hardware and you will have a dead player

do a search on this site for Rockchip, there is quite alot of info coming through now

i agree on the interface to these players, they are seriously ugly but if you want a rockchip based player with official firmware updates then try a Teclast and head on over to www.teclasters.com for support

once again - upgrade with care and be prepared for failure!!!
