MP4 Player Firmware Backup

Hello,

I bought a 1Gb MP4 Player and i after reading your forum i decided to make a backup of my players Firmware.

The player is correctly detected by Windows and I am able to transfer music and videos (mtv format) to it.

However the player is not detected by any of the firmware tools I downloaded. I tried with S1FWX v3.1 and with RdiskUpdate v.1.0.0.1 with no success. None of them detects the player.

I read also your Dead Player Guide and my player is exactly the same (outside and inside) as the pictures of the player there (except not dead :) )

Can you please advise me what to do?

Thanks,
Bestondoa

bestondoa, If you enter the players settings menu what information is listed under "Firmware version"?

Hi tadad1,
Thanks for the reply.

In System info it says:
FW: 02.03.00.06
CHIP: 08

Hope it helps

bestondoa , it seems that your player is running off a rockchip (or is it a sunplus). Either one, the S1fwx does not support your chipset, that's why you can't extract it.

So if you player is currently working properly, i'll suggest not doing anything to the firmware.

Hi lattesurf,

Yes, it is working properly :) . Some minor bugs, but nothing special.

I was more inclined to changing the images. Thats why i wanted to make a backup before proceding.

Do you know if it is possible to change images in this types of players?

bestondoa , i'm not very sure of the rockchip or sunplus players, and there isin't much tools for them either.

Perhaps you could wait for tadad1's reply on theming these types of players.

bestondoa, The themeing tools only work on Action chipset players, to the best of my knowledge there are none available for Sunplus, Sigmatel or Rockchip players :(

Thank you both :)

I guess I'll have to stick with this images... and its spelling errors :)

BTW, what are the main differences between Action chips and Rokchip chips (besides the tools available :) )

Thanks

bestondoa, basically the video format, Action chips use .amv and Rockchips .avi.
The Rockchip also supports larger screen sizes, and multi tasking which lets you use some of the other features like games or picture viewing whilst listening to music.
Have not used a Rockchip player but those that have them report that they are a great improvement over the Action players.

Thanks for all the info!

Next step is to open the player to make sure what chipset it has. :)
