What's the On/Off button for on a Nano clone??

Okay, it should be obvious, but you know I didn't take a course in Chinglish, and I don't recall reading much about the ON/OFF button in the english manuals. So I'm wondering why its needed? The player shuts off automatically and you can shut it off by pressing on the play button for a few seconds. So does that mean if the main switch is still left on, the player is still draining energy, and does switching it to OFF via the on/off button cut off all energy? Or does the on/off switch do exactly the same thing that pressing the play button for a few seconds does?

michiganjfrog, Turning off the player by the play button is like putting the player on standby. When you restart it should take you back to where you were so if you were halfway through a music track when you switched off you will be back to the same position.
Turning the player off at the on\off switch is like a reset. You will lose your clock settings and boot to the main menu.

Yes it does as like a 'on/off' switch.

However, not a lot of people realise that using the [play/pause] button is like a "standby" button and use the [on/off] switch too much.

Personally, I've NEVER had to use the [on/off] switch. I've always used the [play/pause] button pressed down a few seconds to turn it 'on/off'.

This has the advantages tadad mentioned above - clock settings stay and you return to your previous song. Also, the [on/off] switch is very fragile and tend to break far too easily.

So far, the only downside I see is it does drain power after awhile. Much like the suspend function on a laptop, it will drain power over time.

The switch has to be ON for the computer to see the player.
It also has to be ON to charge it.

If you leave it connected to the usb with the switch on, don't you run the risk of battery damage from over-charging?

I never noticed that the clock settings get lost when you turn it off. I did set them, however, I've never seen the player ever display the time :? Other than in the settings, where would you expect the time to be shown?

Setting the date and time is only for when you use the record feature the file is saved with a time stamp so you know when it was recorded. That said I have yet to find a player that keeps any where near accurate time.

Since the clock doesn't keep great time, maybe it's a good thing it doesn't display the time while you listen to music.
