Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

Hi,
I just received one of these players from UXcell (Link to player on UXcell), but it does not find any AVI files when I put them on the drive. It does find MP3 files and text files etc. It had a AMV file on the drive when I received it so I am wondering does it have the wrong firmware (not that I am going to upgrade it).
I clearly states (and even has a link on the UXcell page for the AVIConverter program and I tried that software on a few tv shows I had but it looks like it does recognize the .avi extension, it keeps saying no files found (or empty disk)?
I have contacted UXcell but I have not heard anything back yet!

Has anyone seen this problem?

junkjof, Strange it should have an AMV sample on it. The Uxcell add certainly reads as a Rockchip player.
Does it play the AMV file?
Go into settings on your player and select Firmware Version, what info is displayed?

Re: Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

Use the avi converter tool linked to on the page you sent us to at uxcell.

Avi format is Xvid mpeg-4 using mp2 audio.

Re: Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

Hi,
Yes, it did have an AMV ICE AGE trailer on it when I received it which did play ok. But I specifically wanted an AVI player not a AMV player (I believe AVI is better quality for the size of file).

I have tried that AVIConverter 2.0 software and it seems to work correctly (I have upload a trailer that I converted using to: DOWNLOAD.
It is 224x176 MPEG4 etc.

I had read and converted a few tv shows using that tutorial which is excellent but the player does not seem to recognise any converted AVI files. It keeps saying empty disc (unless I put an AMV file in the root directory).

The firmware is:
2006/09/12
9.0.48

B600N2V3.5
2006/10/12

Uxcell responsed but have not been helpful so far (just told me to use the conversion software (which I have been using)).

Thanks

Jerome

junkjof, With 9.0.48 firmware your player is definately using an Action chipset which is AMV only.
I think you need to hammer them because the Palladium is definatly advertised as using .avi format which means it should be using a Rockchip cpu.

Re: Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

junkjof.

This is the info on the trailer you uploaded

InsideMan_Trailer.avi,
9.1 mB, no subtitles , XviD MPEG4 Codec, 224x176 pixels,
00:00:02:19 sec., 20.00 (20.0000) frames per sec.,
MPEG, 128 kbit, 44100 Hz, 2 chan

It played just fine on my 2" avi rockchip player. It appears you have been screwed by uxcell and been sent an amv player. I agree with you 100% that the avi players are much better quality. The video is always smooth and clean. Its like watching a miniature hdtv screen.

Send it back to Uxcell and have them send you the player that you paid for!!

avionik99,

To confirm, you also ahve a Palladium player from UXcell and you are able to player the .AVI file fine?

Uxcell changed the description of the Palladium, Osmium and Rhodium since yesterday. Avi playing is removed, it is AMV now.

Re: Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

Binh I have a 2" rockchip player I bought elsewhere. I guess Uxcell has cleared the fog by stating these players are AMV not AVI. Thats too bad I wonder how many people bought these wanting an AVI player.

Re: Palladium not recognizing any AVI files

Hi,
Well Uxcell have now said they will arrange a replacement" when they receive my Palladium back.
So, I will keep you guys informed as to what they offer me. A bit annoying in that they don't seem to have any AVI players.
