cant find device in s1fwx

My pc sees the device, but when I run the extract.bat , it says no drives are detected. the play I have is a 2gb mp3/mp4 player with fm radio and voice record. I got it off a freshman at my high school broken and I do not know what type it is. I am new to this, and I woudl like to replace the firmware on this as it keeps rewriting text files, putting in random 0 byte files and randomly restarts when I try to play certain songs.

brad1150, s1fwx will only work on Action chipset players, your player may be using a SigmaTel or Sunplus chipset.

this is the player I have:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AME WN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270069260530&rd=1&rd=1

sorry for my miss typings, guess I could click the spell check once in a while :)

I believe this one is hacked showing 4gb, there was a post on here about it i found on google but lost it. Mine shows 2gb, but i'm abotu to test it as it doesnt feel like playing a lot of the songs.

brad1150, It is not possible to tell what chipset your player is using by looking at it, what type of video files does it play? If you go into the settings menu of your player and select Firmware Version what info is shown?

The other thing you should be aware of is theat Powersellerturbo is known to sell players with hacked memory chips. You may find that your 4GB player in fact has a much smaller memory chip. You can check the true size of the chip as follows:

the one shown is only what mien looks liek as a kind of reference. mine shows 2gb, adn in the disk manager in the amv video converter it shows about 2050mb, but when I go into the partitioning and encryption thingy the slider can only go to 466 im following this guide: http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html
the firmware is ACTS16D_37
The one in the picture was not what I bought, the firmware says it has 2gb.

brad1150,

Did you buy it from "powersellerturbo"? I hope you didn't as unfortunately he's been blacklisted by many people as having sold 'hacked' MPx players.

Seems like you have a hacked player given the symptoms you have described above. I would highly recommend you go through the Removing Memory Hack guide and format your player. This should fix your player.

Good luck.

Bet it's only a 512MB chip. Will probably format to about 469MB :(

brad you have been cheated. the seller has sold you a 512mb player rather than the promised 4gb.

i suggest you to seek a refund.

i have no idea where it was bought as I got it off a freshman. I would take screenies of what i'm trying to say on my pc but its not wanting to assign a drive letter then show flash drives so I 'd have to do it on someone elses pc. and it doesnt say 4gb, it says 2gb, either way I didnt really buy it. freshman sorta gave it to me.

on the memory chip it says
samsung 637
k8k4g08u0m
PCB0
TMA5228A

lattesurf 22nd Jan 2007 7:02 am

brad1150 , the Samsung k8k4g08u0m is a 4Gigabit (512MegaByte) memory chip.

What i would suggest is to get your player formated with Disk Tools. The guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

The memory hack most probably is the cause of all the errors and weird stuff you are experiencing in the first place.
