[Solved] Battery become Big

Hello, my brother put to charge my chipod since 6:00 AM until 12:00 today and when i see unplug and try use but the left button appears pressed, i open th player and find the battery inflated and now i can't close the player.

the player open works all right

What can i do?, my battery is lost for ever?

impeeza , an advice is to remove and discard the battery properly. Get a replacement for it. It has over-charged and "inflated".

It'll be dangerous to use/charge the battery again. It might leak and damage your player. Worst case it might overheat, pop, and cause damage to your computer or power socket.

Remove the battery and get it out of your house!

Inflated Lithium Polymer batteries is not a good thing. Usually happens before it blows.

This is a video of what a Lipoly can do:

I fly RC electric planes - see this stuff often.
Trust me, get the battery in a safe place.

Forgot to add a possible source for replacement battery.
You will need to solder your connector on it though.

Don't be too mad at your brother.

It was most likely a failure of the internal charge circuit or just a bad battery.
Lithium polymer batteries are charged at a precise rate - determined by the internal charger.
A properly designed LiPo charger will NOT let the battery go above 4.2 volts. If I recall correctly, damage occurs just over 4.23 volts. Usually starts by ballooning.
If you have radio control hobby shops in your area, they may be a good place to find a LiPo cell that would fit. They may also be kind enough to solder your connector on it.

Good luck!

its the best thing to do..but you want to bring the inflated battery to see its ratings so you can easily find a match..the battery wont explode until you will recharge it again so be sure to remove it from the battery..

Besides the hacked memory reporting, this is another area of concern for these MPx players. I had to repair a friends nano-clone a few days back (cracked resistor on PCB) and I was pretty shocked to see the LIPO charging circuit, just a silicon diode to drop the USB voltage by 0.6-0.7 volts and a 1.5 Ohm resistor to limit current...that was it! Like you I fly RC models and know how dangerous LIPO's can be, and how critical the charging termination voltage is.

A further problem is that many chinese LIPO's are of poor quality anyway, and are more prone to damage, even if charged correctly. The combination of crappy cells and non-existant voltage control in the charging circuit makes me very surprised that their aren't more posts about this. Perhaps some of the other players have better chargers, I can only hope.

I bought one of the "Glacier" style players through Ebay, sold as a 4GB but I bought it hoping it would be a 2GB and things have turned out ok. The beauty of these players is that the LIPO is the same as used in some Nokia phones, so is easily removable. I'm going to get a desktop charger for mine rather than relying on built in circuit.

Can someone tell me what size battery will fit in the super I platinum mp4 player. I got it from uxcell. Please can someone tell me. I saw bpchobbies but I do not know what size will fit. I want a battery that will last longer.

luiflores2 , it's better to open your player and measure the maximum allowable space for the battery (length x width x thickness).

As players vary with each other (even for same model and brand), this is the safest way to replace your battery.
