NES on this mp4 ? how the heck

I got this direct from china from a website I won't name (dont think we're supposed to). the ad says it can play NES roms. Check it...

Even if all of that does not keep you occupied you can download NES ROMS (video games) and play thousands of video games on the go.

Anyone have any ideas, Firmware version 9.0.48
thanx guys

oebaca, I know there are a few Name brand Chinese manufacturers that are making players with ability to play NES roms now but none of them use the Actions chipset so buy with caution.

Thanks Tadad1 for the info, yeah I've seen the "anal" version  (how do you pronounce that brand name anyways).
Can you give me more info on the "action chipset" ? never heard that term.
Thanks again

oebaca,
I would say about 95% of all these cheap Chinese players use an Actions chipset, the rest use a SigmaTel or Sunplus version. These player use a single CPU to process all the players functions and are not very powerful (30Mhz I am told, but can not confirm) which is why they are only able to perform simple tasks one at a time and can only process video at lower frame rates. I doubt they have the power to run NES games.

The next step up is the Rockchip which will multitask and support .avi video at higher frame rates.

The dearer players like Meizu, Teclast, Sansa and Anal etc ( I am sure it has a better translation in Chinese) use dual chips one to run the players main functions and a dedicated Audio chip which gives them better audio quality and options but are 2 to 3 times the price of the Action based players but a better long term investment.

Re: NES on this mp4 ? how the heck

Thanks for that, it makes sense and explains alot.
My player does have a game function and plays a tetris-like game so I quess that'll have to due for now.
So, If i may ask, what do you think my options are for this firmware when it comes to modding it at all, like menus and stuff ?

oebaca, At the moment there is not a lot you can do with any firmware above 9.0.43 because there are no tools to extract the firmware from your player. A new tool is being developed for these newer version firmware but it is unknown when it will be released. Once it becomes available then you will be able to extract your players firmware, mod it and reload it quite safely.
