Default MP4 player randomly restarts

Hey folks,
for some days Iīm having the problem, that my MP4-Player randomly resets while playing - this sometimes even happens seconds after beginning to play and is very annoying.

So I took a look at the helpful forum. What I found out so far:

- My MP4-Player seems to be genuine 2 GB - first of all, because I already had it loaded with > 1 GB of data and music and second, because I already made a format with Windows (win2k that is).
By the way: Is there any difference in the low level format, to the format, that Windows does?

- Loose connections probably arenīt the problem. I disassembled the player, and even when playing with the power cables, the player didnīt stop to run. Also if I shake it much, there are no problems.

- So I suspect the problem of static electricity, that already has been discussed. Especially as I wear a warm winter jacket now with different material in its pockets. (However, if you have another idea, please let me know)
So my question: Given this is static electricity - is there some workaround? Buying a new jacket definetely isnīt.

Best regards and thanks in advance
Jens

Jens , being able to load up 2GB of files does not mean the memory chip is genuine. In a hacked memory architecture, for example a hacked 1GB showing 2GB, can show files that are copied over the 1GB limit.
But it is only the filenames that appear, there is physically no data for those files over the 1GB limit. These files will have errors or player restarts when played.

The memory hack is meant to fool the Windows operating system, so a normal Right click and format does not solve the problem. You will need a third party formatting tool to format it. The guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html
A low-level format is a factory level format, it rebuilds the whole partition as compared to formating in Windows where the files are just deleted from memory.

Regarding the static there is guide here to isolate the various components http://s1mp3.org/en/docs_advanceduguide.php#reestart

if your player uses a nokia battery, then its got more to do with the battery than static. just change the stock battery with a genuine nokia battery and it should work fine

Thanks for your help so far.

I did a low level format with MP3 Player Utilities, andindeed thereīs no memory hack on my player. Genuine 2 GB.

The problem however still persists. As the player doesnīt restart, when I lay it on the table, I strongly think now, that it is static electricity.
However: Why didnīt this occur from the beggining on? I now have this MPx-Player for several months, and itīs just in the last few weeks, that I have this problem. I also never opened the player before or so - just now, that this happened.

And second: The test with the monitor stated in the s1mp3.org-Site didnīt cause the restart of the player. Is there any other easy way to recreate the problem of static electricity?

I really hope itīs not some other unfixable problem.

Best regards
Jens

Jens , with regards to static, it is very difficult to trace which part of the player actually causes it. Are you having winter now? Usually during the winter months, static is more prominent than as compared to your previous few months when it was spring/autumn.
