Default Bad idea to downgrade firmware to 9.0.48?

I was looking through all your topics (very nice site i might add) and noticed, as of right now you can't mod 9.0.50's, would i be a bad idea to downgrade to .48 so we can use most of these mods? If so is there a guide?

Bittiez, It would be a bad idea to try and load any other firmware to your player, there are so many variations that you stand a 99.99 percent chance of trashing your player.
The problem is that there are no firmware extraction tools for any firmware versions over 9.0.43. A new tool is being developed for these newer version firmware but it is unknown when it will be released. Once it becomes available then you will be able to extract your players firmware, mod it and reload it quite safely.

If you have been ripped off with a hacked player by a seller submit a report to www.ic3.gov

Okay!

most importantly! what size of screen does your mp4 player have?? and what processor/firmware chip does it have? what memory chip does it have?? what FM chip does it have??

Please take you player apart and clean all of the chips off with rubbing alcohol..91% its available at all walmarts...the middle and topmost chip might be a b#@tch..but just keep putting the alcohol on and dont be afraid to scrape with your fingernail(nothing sharper, sorry)..the numbers will eventually show up...and then the chip on the opposite side my have something like SPT in a circle on it..put its number down also...if its not an SPT chip than put every number and letter on the chip down or take a picture of it...if its a normal hacked mp4 player from china there will be only 3 big black chips in there....put the numbers that you see on the chips down.

I may be able to direct you to another firmware if these chips are compliant with another firmware...or show you a way to change the images of the firmware!

aha! I have been trying to upload mine to the database also, i have 9.0.48, so, by using the s1fwx version 3.1 Did i hurt anyting by trying to use it? I got the same error messages, unknown file,etc.. My player seems to be working fine, I"m just wondering if I took anything away that i might kneed later.

stefanyb , the S1fwx tool does not alter any files on the player itself. It merely copy firmware files off the processor. So it is entirely safe to use the S1fwx tool on your player.

However, as the tool still does not support your version, most likely the firmware that you have extracted might not be useable, there might be some missing files.
