Plastic switch isn't working
 

ok i was taking apart my player. then when i was putting my player back and put the big black plastic power switch in the hole thing. then i put it together and tried to turn it on. the big plastic switch isn't working because the little black one connected to the flash drive is gone. WAT CAN I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY PLAYER CAN'T TURN ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is what you do!. Jump Up & Down and say FU!! FU!! FU!!. No seriously just try to super glue something small to it so it will catch or through this shit away already and be done with it. Buy a new 1.

with the help of Jesus Christ i somehow flicked the nothingness of the cruel cheap material with some plastic and it turned on. the problem is now i can't REALLY turn it off. i can hold play. the thing is that i was able to turn it on. Pocket nano that was good advice. good thing i didn't use it tho. i would buy a new one but i'm not old enough to get a job, i don't get allowance, and when i lose something expensive i don't get a new one. :)

Turn it off by holding down the [play] button. It's the best option as it means you will also keep your clock settings as well. It's like a 'suspend' button. Plus, if you use the [on/off] switch too often, it will most probably get worn and fall off.

i dont care really now. i'm only worried about one thing. when the day comes that u will be able to extract 9.0.48 firmware from an atj2093h chip and i will be able to update my player, will i have to restart it by "actually" turning it off?

pmilladcs , when you extract or update any firmwares into a player, the power switch needs to be in the On position always.

lattesurf, i know that. that's a no-brainer. i have used the ATJ extracter beta. i was unable to extract my firmware but it did edit the firmware on my player. it turned the language to chinese and made the screen too bright (i fixed it in the settings) i thot i bricked my player for some reason because it would only show the hourglass until i restarted it. That's why I'm asking if there is ever i time when i will actually NEED to restart player with the switch

pmilladcs, I noticed you posting that you had lost the screws to your players casing. I replaced a couple of screws in ine of mine with some from a small eye glasses repair kit that you should be able to pick up from any optician.

pmilladcs , if that's the case, then you'll probably need to find or create some sort of switch button to replace the old damaged one.

Generally, most players live day to day without the need to be reset using the switch.

I guess you could perhaps try it in the current on position. If it does not need to be reset, then you can just leave it as it is.
If the need to reset is not often, then the problem can probably be solved by just opening the player and flicking the switch on/off.

i can open my player when ever i want. i just recently lost all the screws but bought new skins. everything from the switch is gone. i have the part of the switch that's on the outside. it's the one u actually touch. that switch is supposed to flick the main one inside of the player. well that main one is missing.

pmilladcs , alright i see where your problem is. You would have 3 options on this thing:

1. Leave it as it is and use a small pin to switch it on/off when needed.

2. Find a similar switch at your local electronics store and get it replaced.

3. Remove the switch and solder a permanent wire across it (ie permanent on).

i have just found a REALLY SMALL switch. i had to use a needle. the problem is now it's totally weared off. i'm not very lucky. my mp4 player cannot turn on any more. :(

There's gotta be a way to turn it on, if everything else is working. You just gotta turn it on once, and stop trying to turn it off! Turning it off with the main power switch is not essential. I can't tell what kind of damage has been done with the needle, but perhaps you can dig the needle into the whatever is left of the sliding switch in order to turn it on. If there's nothing left of the sliding switch, perhaps lattesurf's suggestion of soldering across the contacts to create a permanent on. Whatever the solution, the decaying of a plastic switch is not going to stop me! Technically, so long as it works otherwise, the player still has a way to be turned on, even if it must be permanent. Hope you succeed at that.

i came back cuz I'M REALLY REALLY DIPRESSED. i'm not the most spoiled kid on the block. my mp4 was my only christmas gift. i can't get a new one.

the red is where that switch was. well the switch was on a black thing, that black thing is gone. i ripped it off. what do i do now? i still have all the peices, just not on the player. plz help

Do you have a webcam or a video recorder?. Do us all a very big favor OK?. Take this player and a hammer and beat the shit out of it. Take out all of your frustration on it and smash it to a million and 1 pieces. But I want you to film this and then post the video of it back here so we all can watch it. After that send me a private message here on the forum with your address and I will buy you another brand new player the same as the player you have now. Write your forum name "pmilladcs" on a big piece of paper and tape it to your chest so we know the video is really you and that you didn't just download the video from somewhere online just to get the player. Do we have a deal?. :lol:

pmilladcs , if the switch can be slided into the Off position, it must be possible to push it back into the On position.
Keep trying with the small pin, the switch isin't very tight, and should be able to slide to On as long as the small pin gets a grip on whatever that is still left on the switch.
It probably takes alot of patience, but keep trying, you will be able to slide it back to On.

As a last resort, if after many days and hours of trying, and you still could not get it to On. Find someone good in soldering, or maybe yourself, and remove the switch to replace it with a wire short. Since i think it would be quite difficult to obtain such parts from any electronics store.

lattesurf, the switch is totally off. as you can see in the picture it's gone, there's some silver thing left. it happened when i was tryna find the switch.
pocket_nano, are you really going to buy me a new one?

and how would you send it to me? u dont need to buy the same but i really don't beleive you. can you make an ebay account with my address?

In 1 of your other post's here on the forum you said that you lived in the United States so I would mail it to you as I said. I already have an eBay account and 2 websites of my own that I sell these players from. I also have several players like your player in your signature. No I will not send $40 to your Paypal account, I said I will give you a brand new player that is the deal. But only for video taping the destruction of the player you have now and letting us see it. You can believe me or not that is up to you to decide. And remember if you do this to put your forum name on a big piece of paper and show us in the video so we all know that it is really you. This is very important to show us your forum name in the video on this paper because if you forget to do this and destroy the player it can not be done again.

To be honest with you I was just trying to do you a big favor and be nice because I got tired of hearing you cry in every single post you wrote about this is all you got for Christmas and that you cant afford another 1. And I also felt sorry for you as well. So after being thoughtful and trying to help you out all I get is I don't trust you and do this and do that and can we kick him of the website. Isn't this some shit. Why would I tell you to do it if I wasn't serious I've been a member here and am going to continue to be a member here. If you dont want to do it then just say that. I thought we all could get a laugh watching you smash the thing and you would also recieve a new player in the process that is all.
