Win XP ask me for drivers for my MP4 - USB speed to low
Hi, this is my first post, and as you will note, english is not my natural languaje, so excuse my english please!!
Ok, I have bought an MP4 player (generic) whith 2Gb of memory. The chip inside, is a Sigmatel 3500, and the firmware version is 012.002 So, my questions are: - Why windows XP SP2 ask me for drivers?? where can I get new drivers?? - Why USB speed is so slow?? The device says it is USB 2.0 but I can't get a good transfer speed. I've tested it whith Nero program and the best speed i get was 800Kb/s (I've an mp3 generic player that reach 4Mb/s!!) - And the last one, how can I customize my mp4?? I've read your tutorial but the program to download the firmware only get 5 files from my player and this files don't work with the other program that let you change the screens apearance. Thanxs for your help!! and again .. sorry fom my english!! |
Re: Win XP ask me for drivers for my MP4 - USB speed to low
do u have windows xp with service pack 2 if not u need to install service pack 2

mnaddeo , there are two types of USB 2.0, USB 2.0 Full-Speed (12Mbit/s, 1.5KB/s) and USB 2.0 High-Speed (480Mbit/s, 60MB/s).
So likely your player might be the USB2.0 FS instead. The firmware extraction tool S1fwx does not support Sigmatel chipsets, only Actions chipsets. So you can't do anything to the firmware of your player. And it is recommended not to do so, as a wrong update would render your player un-useable, and usually need to be factory-reset. Are you able to view the player's drive from My Computer? |
