Default what to do with new player?

*ive had to type this thread 6 times because of login errors and bad connections. its also 7am and ive been up all night. excuse my briefness*

ultimate guide is not accessible.

bought 2gb FMP1.8 style player from ebay seller play_mega.

what do i do with new players that will arrive soon?

firmware and chipset is unknown, now. that is unless many others have this style and the chips and FW are consistent.

will i:
back up firmware?
remove hacks?
copy files and play?
use cd that comes with the player?
use amv tools and extracting tools downloaded from mympxplayer.org?
anything else im missing?

what do i do? in what order?

looking to make a reliable player out of the new goods.

thank you in advance,
nismosilvia270r

ps. ive searched heavilym on this site and i have all resources to do most things, ie. remove hack and back up firmware (given that the FW is under 9.0.43)

nismosilvia270r, While it is great that you have done your research and found the site helpful, I suggest that when you get your player take your time and get to know it. It doesn't matter about the firmware etc. Load it with your favourite songs and enjoy some music, convert a few videos, try some different earphones. As you make new discoveries or have questions let us know, there are lots of members who will be glad to help and share experiences.

If you have been ripped off with a hacked player by a seller submit a report to www.ic3.gov

nismosilvia270r , usually a format would not be necessary unless you are having "format error" or player restarts when you play music or videos.

However, the hacked memory cases are getting more and more, so a format would be recommended. As there were a few cases of the hacked memory causing errors to the player's firmware, bricking the player.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
