Problems with a new MP4 8GB

I bought last January an MP4 8GB. Firmware data: Digital Player, LX93001_A, 2006/12/08, ACT_V 9.0.4x.

I can not create more than four files for MP3 songs. If I try to make a fifth file, the player becomes crazy. I did not store more than 20 songs in each file.

I have used the AMV converter tool to load a video file into the player, apparently there is no problem but when I try to play de video in the display appears the legend "Format error".

Could you help me, please? Is there a more complete user´s manual that you might send me by e-mail?

Should I format or change the firmware of the player to improve it?

I hope you can help me, Thank You

Nelson

Hi, you should format it to get the real capacity, because it is not a 8GB player for shure. That's why your files get corrupted. The player is hacked to read 8GB but who knows what the real size it. Please format it and report back.

lattesurf 10th Feb 2007 9:41 am

Nelson , i'll suggest a format on your player using MP3 Utilities Disk Tools. The guide is here http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

Be prepared for a large loss in memory size, as your player contains hacked memory.

Thank You, Que and lattesurf,

lattesurf, your guide to re-format these bugs is very clear and useful. Following it, I could to realize that the real capacity of my MP4 is just 228MB !!! (possible 256 MB). How can they to make appears so small memory as an 8GB memory???

It seems incredible. e-Bay sent me, too late, a warning about these guys, but I understand they follow scamming people with other nick names in e-Bay.

Now, they do not answer my mails and I guess I have lost my money.

Nelson, Just curious, what warning did eBay send you?

Nelson 13th Feb 2007 6:57 am

Hi tadad1,

They sent an e-mail like this:

"Dear NELSON
The following is a notice from eBay Trust & Safety regarding:
Item Number - 260074194871
Item Title - nano mp3 mp4 player 8gb radio video audio fm 8g blue

We recently removed this seller's active listings and suspended the seller's trading privileges. Due to privacy concerns we cannot share further details about this seller.
If the seller asks you to complete this transaction outside of eBay, we strongly recommend that you do not proceed with the transaction...."

After that they recommended me to take some actions to recover the money or, in this case, to get a completely hacked player, from the seller.

Wow.. are we seeing some results finally? Hopefully eBay really is taking a stand with regards to hacked players.

Nelson , depending on the mode of payment you made. If it was through paypal, open a dispute. You have a good chance of recovering most if not all of your money, since eBay reconigses this as a fraud.

If paypal does not refund, do a charge-back via your credit card if you used it.

Hi,

Yes,...I think e-Bay is trying to do something regarding the fake sellers, particularly I think it is not enough or it is too late...

In addition, I think, this kind of forums are very positive and e-Bay should recommend to visit it to everyone who is looking for an MP4 player...

Hi,

It is me again... It seems will be impossible to recover my money, so, I have to keep the player.

I have formatted the player using the player´s tools. There was no problem, except that now the player cannot receive the FM radio.

Could you help me, please? . Should it be needed to re-load the firmware again????

Thank You,
Nelson

lattesurf 22nd Feb 2007 9:02 am

Nelson , what is your player's firmware version number?

deepakrr 22nd Feb 2007 7:17 pm

Nelson, you mean you cannot receive the signal or you cannot even enter the FM Mode?

Nelson 23rd Feb 2007 8:22 am

Hi,

Yes, I can enter the FM mode but cannot receive the signal. I tried changing from normal band to Japan band and after that, backing to normal band again, but there is not signal, in any position.

The firmware version is: Digital Player, LX93001_A, 2006/12/08, ACT_V 9.0.4x.

Remember, please, this player was sold me as 8 GB but, after I formatted it, it turned out to be of hardly 228 MB.

lattesurf 23rd Feb 2007 6:20 pm

Nelson , was the player able to receive radio previously?

I'm not able to see what version number your firmware is as it is v9.0.4x. Try connecting the player to the USB, and start MP3 Utilities Upgrade Tool, what is the full version number now? Do not update with any firmware, just use it to check your version number.

Nelson 27th Feb 2007 4:42 pm

HI lattersurf,

Yes, the player was able to receive radio.

The firmware version is V9.0.48, according the Upgrade Tools...

Thank You

lattesurf 27th Feb 2007 5:30 pm

Nelson , was the earphone connected to the player whilst searching for radio stations?

What happens when you try to search for radio station? What error message did the player give?

Re: Problems with a new MP4 8GB

With the radio on, press menu and try adjusting the search level or sensitivity level if it has them.
The earphone wire is the antenna. That's why lattesurf was asking if it was plugged in.

Nelson 28th Feb 2007 8:20 am

Yes,

The earphone is connected... When I try to search for radio stations, I only listen noise, a sharp noise as if it was trying to syntonize the radio stations. The player does not give any error message, only noise in the earphones.

syntonize
I had to look that one up
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Syntonize
However I'm still am not sure what that sounds like.
Can you change the radio from one frequency to another?
Can you connect the output of the player to the audio input of your computer and record it for us and upload the file? Maybe if we hear exactly what it is we can help more.
