kwimbo , there are many MP3 encoders in download.com that you can use. Almost all of them can re-encode your mp3s to wma format.
Depending on the bitrate you chose, the lower the bitrate, the smaller the filesize.
There isin't a straight rule on how many songs can be put onto a 2GB chip. But a rough estimate for .mp3 would be about 390 files, considering an average 5MB filesize at 128kbps.
I'm not a big fan of .wma but if you lower it to 96kbps, you'll be able to store about 500+ files.
