LCD Screen goes black and goes back to normal

I've search through a bunch of topics and don't seem to find my answer.

I have my mp4 player (woo!)... and it's been working fine for more than half a year, but two weeks ago, the screen starts to dim to black and only turning up when a button is pressed.

I've checked all the settings and I didn't touch them before either, so that shouldn't be the program. I haven't upgraded or touched the firmware either, so I really have no idea what's going on.

I hope I didn't break the screen or something... it's been a pain to use the player and sometimes turns black while I'm watching a video. D:

(and what is this about static electricity and winter jacket? I always put mine in my winter jacket... oops?)

you might have changed the settings by mistake because from what you say, it looks like the black option has been turned on.

go to settings, then to lcd set and make sure both darkle and black are set to zero.

if either of them are on, i would recommend you to leave them like that as they help in increasing battery life considerably

aibi , it might be likely that the hardware might be showing signs of failing.

Both of them were at 0 already (I've just checked)

Damn, does that mean my player is done? The screen is black, but you could still see the screen, but just tinted? It's sort of like the digital camera setting where you can tinted your LCD.

aibi , i'm not sure what can be done about it.

Since you bought it 6months ago, it should be running off the v3.5.xx series. So try a firmware extraction, repair, and re-flash.

If the problem still persists, most probably it'll be hardware problems. Maybe some component is failing, and the screen does not stay lighted as supposed to.
