Format digital player

I have formatted this player, (originally 4 GB), with my pc (o.s. win xp). But now its capacity is 470 mb if I connect the player to my notebook: and I cannot connect it to other computers. Can somebody help me? Thanks.

when you connect it to your notebook , do you have a 17 meg device aswell , if so you need to re-format it so they merge together
