Default won't charge properly

I'm losing patience with my mp3/4 player. I bought new headphones, had to exchange a faulty adapter and still am waiting for an adapter I ordered on ebay. Now, the battery dies (crappy battery! I don't see how anyone can criticize an actual ipod about that) and for some reason, it's not recharging. I left it for a while only to unplug it and see that it is only at half. Something is not right here.

I think I might just get an ipod or another mp3 player as a replacement/backup. I was satisfied that the new headphones made such a difference in sound (quality) but I don't have anything to compare to. It would have been fine if not for the charging problem. I've tried several times but it won't charge the battery at full. This is getting frustrating and with the battery life already poor, I don't want to spend so much time charging the thing and if it won't charge all the way, that could be enough.

I have had it recharge to almost 3/4s so is that the max. it will recharge?

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Approx. 2 hours. Under 4, that's for sure. But, the last time I tried to use it, I had it charged via USB and it only went to 3/4s. Okay, fine. I turned it off since I wasn't going to use it. When I turned it on again, the battery showed it was drained. The 'cell picture' showed nothing. As a test, I played it and waited to see how long it would last. About a minute later, the player turned off on its own.

I think it's time to say adios to this MP4 player. 'Time to look at brand names again.

Sounds like you have a 1st gen nano clone. Their batteries are pure crap. But brand names aren't a guarantee of good battery life, nor is unbranded players a guarantee they will die in 2 hrs. The Glacier, with its nokia battery, has respectable playing time (around 8hrs, or something). The irIver Clix, a brand name, has a rated play time of 25hrs. But... if you don't charge it ever day, its about one hour a day for 3 days until its dead. That's about the life of a 1st gen nano clone battery, but at the price of a name brand player.
