NEW ***THE ULTIMATE MPX PLAYER GUIDE***

fizzle05 wrote a very useful guide entitled "THE ULTIMATE MPX PLAYER GUIDE". However, the link doesn't work anymore and he doesn't have a backup copy of it.

So, I figured, let's try and create a NEW "THE ULTIMATE MPX PLAYER GUIDE".

This time, with the help and contribution by everyone here.
Let's build a guide for new owners of MPx players.
Put forth your tips, tricks and anything else you think will help make life easier for a new MPx owner.

I know when I first got my MPx player, it took me quite some time to play around with it and get the button combinations working correctly. We all know that these players are not the most user friendly and sometimes, the button combinations don't make much sense.

If we can all contribute, I'm sure others will find it helpful.

So, reply to this post and I'll gather all your replies together into a NEW "THE ULTIMATE MPX PLAYER GUIDE" and give you credit for your suggestions, tips and tricks.

Fisrt of all I guess the most important things are:

http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

At least, that's what I think as my MP4 hasn't arrived yet.

I can't believe what I just found on uxcell's site.
mp4 player user's manual
Palladium user's manual
Osmium MP4 player user manual
Rhodium MP4 Player User Manual
First time I've ever seen user manuals that you can actually read

They have a FAQ but it isn't much.

Other useful downloads too

I never saw the old guide so I have no idea what it was like before, but here are my ideas.

I think we need to make a list of things that should be in the guide and then decide on who wants to write which parts.

I did something like this as a guide to legal questions regarding P2P file sharing. Unfortunately it doesn't exist anymore so I can't show you.
Each post in the thread was on a different topic. The first post in the thread was a list of the topics (like a table of contents or index). Each item in the "index" post was linked to the corresponding post (the answer) in the thread. Each post included a "Back to the index" link. Each topic post includes the author of the topic. Some posts were crossed linked. "For more info on that see <link>"
It was a huge thread but it was very easy to find the answers you were looking for.
Linking everything together and editing had to be done by a moderator. Once it was complete, the thread was locked. It kind of turned the thread into a web page. It took time to set up and proofed, but it looked and worked great. Much easier to answer a noob's question by responding with a link to the topic in the guide. Beats answering the same Q over and over.

Here's some items I think should be in it.

How to correctly charge a player (if we can ever agree on how that's done  )

A warning about sellers with hacked memory. (probably should be the first item in the guide)

A warning about updating firmware.

A statement that the ebook and phone book features are lame, but give some info on using them too.

Info about lyrics. (proper naming, location and how to make or get them)

Proper ways to disconnect the player from the computer.

Why all of the memory isn't available (some is reserved for firmware loading)

a checklist would be good, sorta like chiclete said.
eg when you receive your MPX player make a firmware backup, check for memory hacks, ect

If you want to add a 'Prevent Video Stuttering' section to your guide, I can chip in with my FPS settings suggestions :)

Brasso is a good solution for scratches for when it starts to appear when watching movies, it worked on my white nano clone and my teclast. for more information, do a google search with just the keywords "brasso ipod, because ipod because for some reason i believe, they are the same material as far as the screen, but it would do wonders on the back.

Good luck, but not responsible.

Another thing you should put in is AMV problems like upside down videos, and how to fix them.

You should also have a troubleshooting section addressing common problems people get when they first get a player.
