Would a 3.7 V mAH Ipod Nano battery work in my nano clone?
The reason I ask is because the Ebay auction for the battery states that it's for the Ipod Nano 1GB, 2GB and 4GB and my clone is a paltry 512mb. Do you think it would still be compatible and work okay?
This is the exact player I have - your standard 1st gen nano clone: http://www.pconline.com.cn/digital/a...09/873734.html And this is the battery I'm eyeing on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-400mAh-Repla...QQcmdZViewItem The current battery life completely blows so I'm hoping a new battery might improve it. Thanks for your help everyone. |
Uxcell also sells replacement batterys for the Apple Nano. You can check the Uxcell website for the excact size of the iPod Nano battery, then open your player and compare the size.

Ahhh so the memory card has nothing to do with it. Okay thanks, I will crack it open later to measure dimensions, without destroying it I hope! Thanks for your advice.

Re: Would a 3.7 V mAH Ipod Nano battery work in my nano clon
And to replace a battery, is it necessary to have a "searing iron tool". One auctions says you need this - but I'm pretty sure I haven't got one. And even the Uxcell battery replacement manual says you must "weld the anodes and cathodes" and I don't have welders lying around either. Does anyone know for sure what tools you need, aside from the 2 plastic screwdrivers the battery comes with? Thanks!!

What they are talking about is a soldering iron. Use a low power one, 25-30 Watts.
The tools that come with it are only needed for real ipods. They are plastic pry bars. See http://www.uxcell.com/public/mp4/rep...um_battery.pdf |
If you have never soldered anything before, I suggest you read a few guides (Google "how to solder"). Here is a nice video tutorial on how to solder:
How To Solder Video You may also want to practice using an old circuit board to get the hang of it. |

Thanks for all the advice! The soldering video will definitely come in handy when I decide to upgrade the battery of my new 2nd generation clone, of which I am eagerly anticipating the arrival!

If that is a second generation nano clone, you may need those plastic pry bars after all.
