Default My player doesn't stay connected to the computer!

Apparently, like the topic says, my mp4 player doesn't stay connected to the computer. Well, it stays connected, but after a few seconds, I get an error and then the whole drive will be EMPTY. It will say it is "0mb of 0mb" and everything in it is gone. The disk manager doesn't detect it after this, so I can't reformat it. If I d/c the player and turn it off then back on and reconnect it, the files will show again.. for a few seconds, until I click on something, and then I would get an error saying it cannot find the file.. then the folder refreshes and everything is gone and the folder is blank again.

The player did this twice when I first got it, so I reformatted as fast as I could before it got an error again. So I don't think reformatting it again would be the answer.

What could be the problem? I don't move the player or touch it, so I don't think it's a problem with the usb cord or connection.

Do I need to get a replacement? It is such a hassle to get one from a seller that doesn't answer emails.. so I hope I can fix this instead of having to do that. Thanks to anyone who can help.

joie, does the player behave normally when not attached to your computer? eg switch on?, browse functions? play mp3's/amv's ?

@gaboon, yes I still have a warranty.. I just bought a week ago on ebay.. but the seller hasn't answered any emails so far, not before I bought the item, while it was being shipped, nor after I bought the item when I first started to have problems. I don't know what to do

@Odyssey, yes, it is normal. The radio works, menus, everything. It even plays a few mp3 songs that I managed to transfer before the drive started acting up again. (although, a couple of the songs give me 'format error' when I try to play them..)

Any ideas? >.< Thx, guys.

have you tried another usb cable? the one that came with the player is low quality thus the connection is spotty. luckily my digital camera came with a better quality usb cable with the same plug as my player and i don't have problems with it anymore. this cable is sold at any computer stores. i say toss the usb cable and headphones that came with the player and you're set.

I formatted it already, gaboon. Twice.. didn't really help this particular problem..

Now that you mention it, mdhg, it might be a problem with the usb cable. I'll have to go buy one from the store.. but when I get it, i'll connect it and see if it works then. Thanks.

joie , if after trying another USB cable and it still shows the same problem, check for the USB connector's soldering. You'll need to open the player and ensure with a visual-check that the solder points are all properly soldered to the board.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

yea i'm agree with lattesurf..maybe coz there is prob with..usb connection...
i think it's better to u have replacement...coz u don't know what SOLDERING means..
if u know how to solder..u can reapir it by urself..but only appropriate tools make it man...
