Battery life/LCD brightness

Hi, I have an Action chipset 1.8" player with the 9.0.5.0 firmware. My issue is that the battery life playing video, or just using the LCD, is very short. On a full change Video will play for about fifteen minutes.

The screen is very bright, and I wouldn't mind lowering the brightness significantly in order to extend battery life.

The problem is that under "LCD Set" in the setup utility I don't have a "Brightness" option. There are two items in the LCD Set menu, "black" and "exit".

FWIW, I have set "black" time to five seconds, sleep time to 30 seconds, and power off time to 60 seconds. So there's not much else I can do from a power conservation perspective.

What are my options here? I've seen postings indicating a manual firmware hack to adjust contrast, but nothing regarding brightness. Also, I see a lot of posts saying the 9.0.5.0 FW isn't yet customizeable.

What are my options here? Is there a firmware I can downgrade to that will allow me to adjust brightness?

Thanks in Advance,

- Great Site, BTW

Galaxieman & DAM2991 , currently the firmware extractor only supports upto v9.0.43, so both v9.0.48 and v9.0.50 are not yet supported.

Regards to firmware downgrade or upgrade, it is definitely a negative. Every firmware was specifically made for each batch of players. So another firmware with the same version number, likely it would not work on your player.

15minutes video playback time on a full charge is very little. Likely there is a problem with your battery and it does not hold it's charge well. On a stock battery, you should be getting a minimum of 2-3hours music playback or 1-2 video playback.

What i can suggest is to contact your seller for a replacement player. Alternatively, you can buy a replacement battery either from ebay or uxcell (someone posted about uxcell selling replacement batteries). But either way, open your player and measure the space allowed for the battery so you do not buy one that is too big for your player.
