Default Hardware Malfunction notice when connected to the computer

i could transfer files between my PC and player earlier today, but now when i plug the player in it says hardware malfunction, try replugging or installing driver again, the thing is i cant find my CD to install the driver. Is there a driver download for XP? but other than that the player works, plays music, everything is the same, does anyone have any ideas, coz im desperate!

ive tried, plugging it into the ports in the back, i killed the battery hoping that things will reset, still no luck, now when i keep it for some time, i can open the player as a disk and in a few seconds or if i try moving, deleting etc i get the "Windows doesn't recognize yr device coz of a hardware malfunction"
whats the difference between a usb hub and the back of the PC? i'm using a extender which plugs in the back and i plug the player into that, tried with the extender and without, still no difference

i tried going onto the device manager and uninstalling the device so when i plug it in it'll install, same old story, i cant return it coz i bought it in singapore,

i can play music, movies, radio everything, just has a problem when i plug it into the comp. could it be the cable??but i tried using my cable wit a camera i had, and it worked perfectly,

if the problem is with the player technically it wont charge (since i use the cord to charge it) and the data on the player would be corrupt right??

thank yu for the reply

daju666 , likely the USB socket on the player has some broken solder, causing the PC not to read the player properly and showing hardware malfunction.

i'll suggest opening the player and check the USB socket. Make sure all the pins are properly soldered to the mainboard itself.

If you are not good in soldering, find someone good in it and try re-soldering the pins back to the board. Usually you'll only need to touch the solder on the pins to melt it again, allowing it to bond the pins to the board.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
