s1fwx says system cannot read from the specified device

I got my MP4 today from Amazon and spent the afternoon being pissed off about both its ugly-as-a-cat's-arse UI and its non-standard headphone jack.
...
Then I checked the packaging and found a headphone adapter, then searched google and found this site, which I can imagine is really helpful... If you've got a clue how to do anything...

I started trying to sort out my UI by downloading the utilities from the knowledge base, which downloaded perfectly. However, the 's1fwx' keeps giving the message:

Quote:

"connect to device 'F:\'...
init device...
set device to f-mode...
get info from device...
device = 'S1 Mp3 Player'
manufacturer = 'Wilson Co. Ltd.'
firmware type = 'F285'
firmware version = 9.0.48
read boot record...
detect firmware size...
error: The system cannot read from the specified device.

warning: unknown firmware file
read flash...
error: The system cannot read from the specified device."
After this the program outputs a .BIN but it isn't read by the 's1res' tool... Bummer...

If anyone's got an idea of what I can do to get rid of my horrid UI please let me know, either on here or on

Cheers!

you can not mod 9.0.48 firmware because nothing was yet created so that you can fully extract the firmware. the current s1fx tool dont work, new tools are being developed. you will have to wait untill a tool is created so that you can extract firmware 9.0.xx and above. just recently the guy that makes the tools, created one for 9.0.43. i would recomend that you do not flash your player with other firmware because the chances of the firmware not killing your player is slim.

Re: Little Help Please!

Awesome! So all hope is not lost... Usually when I try something like this the answer is "Never gonna happen" or "Yeah... that's OLD" at least it sounds like something might come of this!

Cheers!
