3.5.37.... any will work?
 

Since I've at least gotten as far as finding out I have Actions, S1MP3, ver. 3.5.37 firmware, will any of the firmwares 3.5.37 work from here or are they chip dependent? (have yet to find out the chip)

DEFINATELY chip dependent. Actually, more so, manufacturer dependent as well.

Some manufacturers pay alittle extra to have the standard firmware modified for button configurations and any extra features. That's why some have games, some don't, some can do file/folder browsing, some don't etc....

Only use other firmware if it's a LAST RESORT to restoring a dead player. If you try to gain extra features from uploading someone else's firmware, you will have a high chance of having a dead player which will cause you more headache then it's worth.
