_Kate_ , word of advice is to never ever update your player with someone else's firmware. As each firmware was specifically coded for a specific batch of players. So even with the same manufacturer's name and version number, most likely you'll brick your player.

The firmwares in the downloads section are meant for recovering dead player, not for updating firmwares.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Firmware is the software 'OS' installed on the player like windows on a PC.
