Default Upgrading my Firmware

Hi All.

I want to upgrade my firmware on QMANIA, IS099 MP3 PLAYER, v3.5.35

NOw the reason is because the current firmwares file/music browser seems disfunctional. The only way to select songs is to scroll through every single file until I find the one I want.

It can browse directories (albums), but there appears no way to select the directory for easy Music navigation.

Im hoping a new firmware upgrade will fix it.

I have all the tools etc, but dont want to break the system. I have made a backup following the procedure detailed in the FAQ/HOW TO..

Heres my dump.bin info

Default Re: Upgrading my Firmware

This is easy to answer...

DON'T DO IT

Unless you have a version of firmware that has been especially released for your specific player. But usually only the factory will make such a release. If you try any one elses firmware.. you will kill (brick) your player. The firmware in it is designed for that player only. Is there a 'bin' or 'fw' file on the driver cd that came with it? If there is that will be the only firmware that is compatible.

You cannot upgrade, downgrade, or otherwise use a foriegn firmware file to make your player perform 'better' or give it new functions.

You're quite welcome. However you can 'theme' your current firmware with a 'Windows XP' or 'iPod' look.

Ahh well maybe thats what I need to do!

Will the theme alter my Navigation and menus, making browsing files easier/quicker?

It might. A cleaner theme may actually make the whole experience alot more pleasant.
I'm not experienced in theming... i know how to make a start but thats about it lol.
As far as i know you can also alter key or button press functions. There should be a few tutorials here about how to do that.

Remember you have to extract a copy of your firmware from your player, repair it using the utility and make a back up of it in case something goes wrong. Then grab a theme package for your sized screen. Make sure you're theming your firmware from your player and no other though.

good luck
