4GB chip, mp3 plays only 1GB

Hello,

I have an mp3 player with the following memory and processor chips:
----------------------------------
Samsung 704 K9NBG08U5A
PCB0
FEA273PI
-----------------------------------
ATJ2091H
FC010FA 5C4
-----------------------------------
firmware version: 9.0.50
LSC_91N002_20
2006-12-27
9.0.50
2005-01-09
-----------------------------------

According to samsung, this is a 4GB memory. My player shows 4GB in the memory status, my computer shows the same in windows explorer. however, when I copy mp3 files to the player, only the first 1GB of files are playable, the remaining 3GB is rubbish corrupt files.

I bought this from eBay, from (jungle.bookstore) and I am communicating with him, and I want to know whats going on. can i fix this, since the memory chip is really 4GB?

Thanks

Are you sure the chip is marked
K9NBG08U5A which is a 4GB and not
K9N8G08U5A which is a 1GB

Re: 4GB chip, mp3 plays only 1GB

I just installed the mp3 player disk tool, and it showed the capacity to be 962MB

Re: 4GB chip, mp3 plays only 1GB

The number on the chip seems to be a 4GB, but it acts like it is only 1GB. The chip could have been mis-marked (a legitimate mistake by Samsung) however, it looks like someone decided to hack the player after the chip was installed to make it look like what the chip is marked as. This would explain why it won't store the 3GB correctly.
My guess is that the Format tab on the player disk tool will show that it is 4GB, but the Partition and Encrypt tab does show capacity to be 962MB which is its true size.
jungle.bookstore is on our black list at #52.
Buyers left feedback that players with hacked memory were sold.
Following http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html will make the player and windows show the true size of the memory.
Since it seems to be only a 1GB chip, there is no way to make it 4GB.
I would attempt to get a replacement or refund.

Hi,

I've got the same unit from the same supplier with the same issues, 4gb displaying, only really 1gb. Am going to drop them (jungle.bookstore) an email but I don't suspect I'll get any sensible reply.

Mind you at £25 delivered for a 1gb rechargeable unit that does sound and simple video I think it's worth the money, but it would have been nice to have the truth!!

Tell me how you get on too.

He is losing his mind becuz of my negative feedback. He even reported that I did not pay him for the item. I don't know if this will get him anywhere, cuz I paid through paypal, and it can easily be proven that I did pay him.

He sent me a messege as follows:
Code:

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? If you have problems i said we will help! Negative feedback is the end of communication as defined by eBay unless you don't want to resolve this you should communicate with us. I've also left you neg for your offense. But I still want to resolve it with you as it's a simple problem! Why did you download a tool that is incompatible with the player? The player disk cautioned buyers not to use disk tool downloaded from elsewhere and improper formatting will lead to memory loss etc. Do you have an email address other than AOL, hotmail and MSN that can accept a file size of 1MB? I will mail you the disk tool that works with the player to restore its original state. Can this be done? If you agree to resolve it this way and that the neg i left on your record and the neg you left on me to be withdrawn, please copy the following link to your browser:

http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MFWRequest

and input the item number 280089522858 and follow the instructions - once done I will email you back to discuss it.

If you want to get Paypal involved and escalated it that's ok and you will be responsible for the expensive shipment and insurance cost to return them in separate packages for the refund. I don't know why you didn't discuss the problems with us before leaving negative, and hopefully my assumption is wrong. If you doubt our courtesy to resolve the problem, you may 1st just withdraw 1 negative comment only (e.g. 280089522858) and leave your negative feedback with the link there in my record, and remove this negative after everything is resolved. sigh it's another victim from mympxplayer.org ... this site sucks and contains lots of false or outdated information. the tool will reduce the memory of all players and this site is just doing some self-fulfilling prophecy i suppose. withdraw the neg, i will send you the tool all will be resolved!

Does anyone has a slight feeling that he might be right?

Please tell me NOW before I escalate the disputes to claims.

By the way, I have, foolishly, bought 3 items from him, and all play 1GB only.

Thanks. Please leave a comment even if you don't have an answer. Just supportive one!

Thanks

The 'tool' he speaks of could very well be the program used to hack the players. Personally i would ask him him to send me the software program for testing before i made any commitment. If it is the hacking program you have even more evidence against him.

But is the tool that I used (MP3 Player Utilities 4.05) incompatible with my player(s).
