[Error]Mp3 Player Upgrade Tool/Firmware Prob

Help, i am using Windows Vista and installed the MP3 Player Utitlities 4.05. Now the problem is i want to run the firmware upgrade program but it cant. After "waiting for connecting device" it will crash. I want to upgrade the firmware with this, but now i also dont know what's wrong with it. compability issues with Vista?
Or is there any other program that i can use to upgrade the firmware of my player?

MP-735C-STL V1.2 (Board Number)

ATJ2085W (Chipset)

Everything else works perfectly. But there is some problem with the amv playback from the player. i convert the videos into amv with the amv converter. but when play, it will cause error after a random time of playing.

gkwong , never upgrade your player with another firmware. You would most likely brick it instead.

The problem you are having is because the AMV file was not formatted correctly for your player. You'll need to play around with the conversion settings to find one that works properly on your player.

gkwong, The upgrade tool is not compatible with Vista, You will need to use XP.

I advise against a firmware update it may brick your player. What size screen does your player have and what version of MP3 Player Utilities are you using to convert your video?

ic....so is there any other tools available for flashing?
Is that firmware update really so dangerous until it can brick my player? i thought it was just like normal flashing of motherboard BIOS and optical drive firmware. I am trying to change the theme of my player, so i need to flash it.

I am using AMV Converter V3.2. I noticed that most of the time, the player will not responding or restart or maybe "format error" message appear if i play the amv files that convert using a resolution that same as the screen size.

ok. i figured it out the compability problem. I use virtual pc WinXp and can flash the firmware successfuly now.
But i cant find any firmware that is really compatible with it. I got 1 modded firmware which it flipped the whole screen to landscape. With that firmware, i can play the converted AMV without error. But with my original firmware, it will mostly show up "format error!"

Stop what your doing right now! DON'T flash that firmware anymore... it is NOT what is causing your AMV problem. Listen to tadad1 and lattesurf.. they know what they're talking about. If you continue to flash foriegn firmware to your player you WILL kill it.

You probably need to reduce the frame rate of your AMV movie files, thats all.

What part of "I advise against a firmware update it may brick your player." Did you not understand?

gkwong...it is most probably not becoz of ur firmware...u may have done mistakes..in converting the amv file...if u dont to brick ur player...just do as lattesurf and tadad says

the AMV converter i am using does not have the option to let me reduce the frame rate. I am using version 4.09. There is only option for screen size, video convert, image quality. The "synchronize video" i dont know what is that.
I want to convert to 160x120 with rotation 90degree only because i want to have full screen.
Is that also not even possible??? Older version got the option to choose the frame rate, but didnt have larger screen size to choose.

And to remind u all, my player is NOT memory hacked (open can confirmed the chip already). So does doing the memory hack fix can really fix this "Format Error!"???? But i already tried it and nothing different.

Ok.. now we have something to work on that shouldn't brick your player.

Try this:
Go to this link > http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...mod-df541.html and download this modified version of AMV Converter v4.0.
Although version 4.09 is a more recent version it seems to have a bug. Instead of converting to 160x120 it turns it into a 128x176.. weird.
Anyway the modified version of 4.0 will still convert your videos to 16fps but will give you true 160x120.(I've noticed with a certain 1.8" player anything other than 160x120 makes it do weird things)

Next, to convert the file with a rotation of 90deg clockwise, go to the folder it's installed into. Find a file called AmvTransform.ini and change the line that says "BMPADJUST=0" to "BMPADJUST=4" and save it. If you want to rotate the movie 90deg anti-clockwise then change the number to 5. Then start the program and convert your movies. You won't have to make any other settings changes, once you've chosen your file to convert, just go ahead and convert it.

if that doesn't work, we'll have a look at actually changing the frame rate.
