Default Hour Glass of Life. . . I mean death!

Well, my player was kickin in well for about a month. Then I charged it last night, unplugged it using the 'safely remove hardware' and BOOM; nothing but that beautiful hour-glass. I tried to run the tools and such over it and firmware recovery but my comp won't recognize it anymore. Anyone have tips?

My player is an FMP 1.5" and has the 9x.0.48 firmware

Cheers,

PiN

Got it from out good mates at Uxcell, right before they went off the production line. Cost was $37USD total I believe.

My brother sometimes keep on that hour-glass screen but then I start trying to turn it on and off and plug it on charger / usb and it works.
It happens when battery is TO LOW. I mean, here at least.

I agree with chiclete.
My FMP often goes into blue screen 'hour glass of death' and sometimes stay that way until i turn it off for a minute or two. Just let it get it out of it's system... much like a siezure.
Forget about trying to recover, reflash or extract it's firmware as v9.0.48 can't be extracted or modified so a proper working copy isn't available to reflash.

Did you charge it overnight? If so... not a good idea. The tiny battery only needs about an hour or two at the most on USB and less than an hour on the wall AC. It may have been overcharged and cr@pped itself. It's a pitiful excuse for a rechargable battery... still, gotta love the player.

You guys are 100% right, I definitely think I 'overcharged' the battery. Now my only problem is that my Windows XP won't read the player at all. This is definitely not too helpful. If I get it working again I definitely have to replace that batter, although I tried opening it and I couldn't figure out how after I got the screws loosened.
