Cannot hear my records, volume is too low

I'm a law student and bought an mp3 player primarily to record class lectures so I can listen to them again later.

My problem is, lately I cannot hear my records! The volume is sooo low! It's not my headphones either since I bought new ones.

I tried to upgrade the firmware in the hope of restoring it to the way it was before but all I've accomplished is turn the submenus into Chinese!

Help me please. I've come to depend on my voice recorder, I'm practically crippled in the class now. :(

MOHCANDY , to switch the language back to English:
1) Press left or right to the Sys Tools menu denoted by the 2 gears rotating.
2) Press Menu
3) Press Right arrow TWICE to highlight 3rd choice in the list.
4) Press Menu
5) Press Right arrow ONCE to highlight 2nd choice in the list.
6) Press Menu and English is selected.

Did it used to play the recordings at an OK volume?
Do the mp3's play at an OK volume?
Is this player a nano clone?

Re: Cannot hear my records, volume is too low

thank you, I was able to restore it to English. :)

yea, it was working perfectly for three months after I bought it. It only started acting up when our finals are coming up.

The volume is fine when I play mp3 songs and my old recordings . Could it be its hardware having problems?

By the way, its an ordinary mp3 player not a nano clone.

The shop gave me only 3 months warranty and it's already way past that date so help me fix this.

Does it have a radio and can you record from the radio? If so is the recorded radio volume OK or is it low?

yea, I just tried recording from fm and the volume is okey. I tried to record voice again but no joy.

What could be the problem? :x

maybe becoz of the mic...the mic maybe has small range voice detection@poor mic...

It probably is related to the mic. In some players, they put pieces of tape inside the player to prevent parts from shorting out. In my player, there was one over the mic. I would open it up and see if the mic has become blocked by something like that.

MOHCANDY , are you using a silicon skin or some casing for your player? The mic hole might be muffled by the extra layer from the silicon or casing.
