Default was not able to format my mp4 player.

hi there, i had bought a player chinonano ipod with 4GB .
reading in this forum there is the risk to have been joked by seller (hacked memory).
Honestly till now my player never have a crash, or a problem, but i want to format it to check it out (and maybe , "take the red pill ")
so i downloaded the format tool (mp3 player disk tool 4.09) but this tell me that "not supporting disk type").
Also i noticed that windows XP find 2 different usbdrive (E and F) the E is usable the F is some sort of bug.
Linux which i use normally have not this double disks feature, but looking in the info seem to me that is a vfat partition
having some clue on how i can do to find what software can help me?
(the chinonano is the one very similar to ipod nano)
