That is very bad.
They should put the right firmware on the cd, then again maybe they put the wrong version of ConsumerUpdate on the CD and the Firmware is the right one.
There are about 5 different versions of ConsumerUpdate, the wrong version of ConsumerUpdate can kill your player too, it happened to me.

All you can do is look on the internet for a rockchip player that has the same screen size as yours and try them all.

Does IQ sound have a website? try there for a download first.

If they make the screen go blank you can do this to get back into upgrade mode:-

1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch.

2) Hold down the "MENU" or the "PLAY" button and keep it held down.(try the other buttons if these dont work)

3) Connect the usb to the player.

4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the button.

5) You are now in "ROCK USB" upgrade mode!

6) Then just start ConsumerUpdate and upload the firmware.

Dec have a lot of pictures of players on their site and the firmware
to go with them.

I sent firmware on your mail, but there button misplaced. I resold one pin rk2606A to button volume, but now me not enough button "next/FF". Any questions to mail, please.

i m satish from india , i have FOUR (TWO is dead another TWO is working) same mp4 player rockchip 2606a, with same board nos.
plz help me to recover my dead player,
1- i dont have firmware( I try some f/w but they r not compatible with the players I face problem - button configuration changed)
2- i have 1 working player but i dont have firmware extractor tool for rockchip
3- if u find something like a firmware or the extractor tool plz send me,

If this doesn't work, another member "dancemammal" is working very hard to create a firmware extractor for Rockchip so it would help you out, we will just need to be patient and wait a little while. 8)

extractor for Rockchip? Do you mean to extract firmware code so we could edit it, make patches, add new features?

I think the plan is to be able to create a copy of the firmware that is on the player (which we know works) to use as a backup.

Then this firmware can be safely themed and flashed back on to the player.
Lots of unbranded Rockchip players don't have a backup firmware at all, so an extractor would help a lot of people rescue dead players if they have already flashed the WRONG firmware.

Not sure if "dancemammal" will add any extra bits to the firmware editor, but it would be nice if we could add new features. :wink:

reset now just chinese symbols 4 menus, but no tunes
any help (innerds reveal very little)
how U post piccy's?
only numbers in-it are along both side of display
welcome screen = flowers
player graphics = dancers
battery (internal) 1/4(ish) of the unit's innerds
Rockchip ????(i don't know) :shock:
