Default PC not detecting USB Connection

Hi all, I recently bought a MP3/MP4 player, it connected once to my laptop and i was able to move some files and it worked great, then the hour glass came one and it froze. I took it back to the store and they gave me a new one, however, my laptop isn't able to see the player at all. The player works, it playes the audio and video file that came with it, it charges and shows the connection screen when plugged into the laptop, but my laptop, my wife's laptop and my office PC cant see the player. When I go to firmware version I see:

MP3 PLAYER
LSD_9101_20
2006-10-21
9.0.48
2005-01-09

Could the first player have damaged my laptop to prevent the new one from being detected? Please I've tried all I know (which isn't much) Thanks

Your laptop driver could be damaged; however, if you have tested on others 2 computers and they also didn't detect it... I guess it's not what's happening...

Question: What operation system are you trying to detect it? Have you installed the driver already?

Reason I ask: Old Windows (9x mainly) probably won't have your mp4 driver.

JamaicanGambit , try using another USB cable.

Also, are you able to charge the player using either the computer's USB or AC wall adaptor?

i suspect that it is either a problem with the USB cable, or a problem with the USB socket on the player itself.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Thanks I found the problem, the cable end that connects to the player is not to be pushed in all the way, but only half until the PC detects it. It has been working all day. Thanks for the help guys, its greatly appreciated.

JamaicanGambit , try another USB cable, if you also need to just plug it in halfway for your computer to detect it, it'll be a hardware problem with the socket.

i'll suggest an exchange with your seller, as you won't know if this would cause further problems in future.

Hello everyone!

I've got the same problem as JamaicanGambit but pushing the cable witch half way to the player didn't sovle the problem. Any other ideas ? I'm using Win XP SP2. Do you think, that using other USB cable may help ?

BTW I've got player with hinix flash HY27UF and ATJ2057H chipset.

O.K. I've solved this problem. Changing the cable helped.
